I have a Savage 12 LRP thta shoots great but the magazine sucks. I bought an after market magazine that everyone here recommended. it is better but still is a pain in A$$ to get the mag to lock into the action.
Are there any solutions????

Not sure what magazine you are using but bought one of the Black Eagle ten rounders for a 243 and it has been very good.
I never had any issue with the original mags though so you might just need to tweak things a little bit.

Accurate mag makes a drop in bottom metal that takes their aics compatible mags.
Aics mags wont work in their bottom metal but their mags work in aics.
There are other companies that make aics bottom metal but they do require in letting.
A much better solution than using savage mags.

Tried the dark eagle mags and they were ok but not good enough to stick with sent them back for a refund after first use. I ended up buying a cdi bottom metal and use magpul aics mags and it has been flawless ever since no comparison at all. I’ve been contemplating buying a mpa or an alpha for it cause the rest of the rifle is all built up so nice now but can’t pull the trigger no pun. The guy Jeff who owned cdi was one of the nicest dudes you ever know but unfortunately passed away like a year ago and I had heard someone may be taking over for him but have no real knowledge if that’s actually happening maybe someone else will chime in on that. I have three one on that savage one on a fn and one on a Remington and his bottom metals are the real deal. If you could find one on the hide or find out if someone took over for him you would be happy. You do have to Inlet for it but it’s easy. I would have one for you if I decided to get that chassis.

I agree with you 100% on the CDI BM, I had one on a rem700 fps varmint and it was excellent.
They allways would inlet your stock for free all you had to do was pay shipping.

I used to live an hour from Jeff and two of the ones I bought I went there and he did them while I went out and ate lunch. He was such an awesome dude to bad.

I'm probably in the minority, but I like the savage mag. Granted, only savage I have is a yote rifle. 4+1 of 243 in a rattle free mag that feeds like a raped ape is perfect for song dogs.

All my AICS type mags worked in my accurate mag bottom metal.

Stockys must have bought up some of the cdi inventory cause they have some in stock unfortunately they seem to only have long action for the savage. They have them for Remington and others I almost feel like buying one for the Remington and keeping it in a drawer for a later date. Maybe give them a call just in case they have a blem or something for your short action savage.

Well I just read a new thread in the "Gunsmithing" forum that says PTG is a horrible company to deal with! Just my luck...is there a third company that makes a bottom metal that will work with Savage 12 LRP?

With cdi out of the game and it being a savage I think your options are slim to none. Might just have to bite the bullet and go with the ptg.

I bought mine from PTG and had it in 2 weeks, no problems

Yea, me too

It served me well for my first couple of years shooting PRS. I added the cocking bearing and A419 ARCA rail. Solid rig.
