Unfortunately, normal everyday Americans have displayed for decades that apathy is the new normal. Gone are the days of bands of men traveling across the frontier to assist patriots fighting the red coats. No one thinks like this anymore. No one is going to end this, and it sucks. No one is going to end this shit the way that it needs to be ended because if it hasn’t happened yet, I fear it won’t. Look at the stage of this nation! No one is doing fuck all shit to stop it. The way to end it should be through voting but that is now threatened as well. I want to live my life in the manner I so choose, and I want the same for my all my countrymen as well. But this is ridiculously out of hand.
To answer the question of the title of the thread; “we” have had the opportunity for months and I don’t believe that “we” will. No one, including me, has done shit to end anything. All of the shit happening nationwide is disgusting to me in every regard. But here I sit, not doing anything about it.
You an many others seem to forget, so far all this shit is in shit holes made up of shit birds an run by shit birds. Once it comes to flyover the response will be different. However even in fly over some shit holes will remain shit holes, just like the one I have to enter tomorrow,...Birmingham Alabama. The few things they've done in my area to kind of screw things up really irk me and I cannot see why the community isn't in an uproar. Granted Mayor RINO is tied in with real-estate developers so a lot of these things that pass the community has ZERO input in except for the last meeting of before the vote. Nothing ever shows up in the mailbox or any other notification that "we're going to put in XY Z." I think our problems are less "apathy" than they are that people *know* their Government is owned and operated by Corporations and Global Oligarchs and is being dissembled and working peoples wealth is being assimilated (stolen) from them and there is nothing to be done about it....vote how ya want and jump up and down and get mad and hate yer neighbor - vilify everyone who doesn't agree with you and puff all up and scream and yell and then find a solution.

So what is our course of action? I’m too young to live in a mindset of “we’re just fucked.” I have a kid and I’m surrounded by family and some like minded thinkers. I live in a shithole blue state and I hate it. But my family and loved ones are all right here. That said, I can’t and won’t live the rest of my life thinking there aren’t options. I can’t raise my kid that way. I’m only halfway through my thirty’s lol.

I'm 64 and have watched this unfold and I do not have the answer or a solution...this is because, right now, this very moment, there are few answers and no solutions that I know of. The is little or no precedent for exactly what this moment holds - millionaires can and do execute million $ stock trades over a cell phone and world events and high political decisions are decided via text message and Twitter.
Our "experts" have all the answers form the past about how economies flow and function and how money and investments and political decisions roll based on shit that is now irrelevant/moot. The is no/little precedent for what lies ahead and the Global Oligarchy is exploiting that and dis assembling the richest Republic on Earth. The Republic is *ALL* about the money and that buys a lot of influence and power.
I'm sorry - I don't have a solution and I'll follow any credible person who has reasonable plans and options. Haven't seen that for 30 years. The Republic is in decline until, like the Roman and many other empires and Republics, the "reset" button gets pushed. Lots of references to that in the founding fathers writings and the Constitution. we need a reset. We have determined that we are not represented but what we do about it is as yet unclear.
Vote if you think that will help. Me personally I have been doing that for 42 years and have not seen one instance of getting what we "voted" for. I'm under the impression it matter not how I vote but who counts the votes. The one thing I cannot do and will not do is comply with dis armament - this *IS* end game. I am unable to comply with disarmament as I am at Peace with it costing me my Life. Hope it doesn't come to that but disarmament is end game for a Free Man. Disarmed we are all Slaves.

I agree with you in just about every damn way. What sucks is we all see the republic needing a reset, yet it seems as though there isn’t just one button to hit to reset the system. I won’t live the rest of my life like this, the way we are today. We are men of principle, of honor and ideals that can not and shall not be swayed by the blistering of idiots like that filth that occupy CHAZ/CHOP. Those motherfuckers are a disgrace to American citizens. If we all sat in a room together as one, we could devise multiple ways to steer our nation back on course, with contingency plans embedded. Time to pull the plug and dial in the reset. Locally in Flemington NJ had your typical BLM Protest on Main Street 99 % of white people screaming" I Can't Breathe" on the court house steps. Not a big deal but funny to watch but the liberal lady mayor had the blue line that was painted down main street to support the Police was painted over black for the protest. Next day a resident painted part of the blue line back in front of the Police station during the day which they have photos of her ass. Mayor wants the resident found and charged for this vandalism as she puts it.
This week they had a rally for the people who support the Police and everyone else, during the event the people had blue chalk and colored in the blue line again on main street. When the rally finished the Mayor had a street sweeper ready to remove the blue chalk line.

I hate to say it, but either a majority of people who think like we do are too damn lazy and apathetic to get off their asses and vote in decent leaders, or we are actually in the minority in the way we think. I truly believe it's the former, not the latter, but if recent events are not enough to piss good people off and spur them to action, what will? How can you not get mad enough to chew nails when the good guys are vilified and the bad guys are held up as some kind of heroes? When roving bands of domestic terrorists are allowed to loot and destroy, often with the encouragement of local "leaders", what has taken good folks a considerable amount of time, money, and effort to build.

Hey man, I keep hearing people are going to rise up. I’m with you, in my mind, the future of America looks pretty bleak and I don’t see many rising to the occasion.
I truly feel like this once great country is circling the bowl right now. It's not just an occasional incident that riles me up, it's numerous things almost daily. I tell my wife of events and happenings around the country (because, probably wisely, she stays too busy to get hung up on the news), and she thinks I'm making shit up. I'm at a loss. It feels like a powder keg, and when it goes off, it's gonna be hell. A LOT of people have been biting their lip for a long time, but I'm afraid we're on a collision course running at break-neck speed now.
This is what happens when good times are too good. A portion of the population (looks to be 50% give or take), get too spoiled as they have never known any real hardship.
For example, there are young adults now who were either born too young to remember or were born after 9/11. So, not only did they not experience those attacks, they didn’t live through the 80/90’s crime peak. And they were young children in the early 2000’s when the dividends from “tough on crime” legislation around the country started to pay off.
With being spoiled with this comfort comes the mentality we are seeing. Prison reform is basically undoing much of the progress made in the 90’s/2000’s. Legalized marijuana while on its face seems benign, will increase addiction and demand for harder drugs.
Crime rates will continue to rise as long as this mentality continues. We will see meth, heroin, prescription pills, and crack use and the violence that comes along with it return.
Those of us who have seen it know what that was like. They younger generations are about to find out. Eventually a strong emphasis is law and order will have to return. History is cyclical (generally speaking) and we are unfortunately in the shitty part of the cycle.
Not gonna defend the looters, but fuck Wells Fraudco. If anyone on this Earth deserves to have their shit burned to the ground, it’s those criminals.

College is to polish the individual with the goal that they become capable of providing a positive influence on society and the human condition. My argument is that the last several decades of erosion of the humanities has produced several generations that are not capable of reasoned discourse. It is a matter of having only 'enough information to be dangerous'. An analogy would be a person who buys a pistol, in some form of panic, acquires no training, and having no appreciation of what a gun can do, shoots everything and anything. I hope you see the parallel of the metaphor to the current cultural and social activity in our Country.

I think it's called history and I don't personally think there is a Way out....the world has been churning and burning and people keep moving on. Sometimes forward and sometimes backwards. As my FIL used to say "One can only deal with Life as it seems at the time". So much has changed in the last 30 years that we probably need to learn to deal with shit happening in the next few days - not the next few centuries. Yet we keep depending upon standards and procedures and processes that were developed a hundred years ago....we kinda need to start thinking like 21st Century people. It's not going back.

Republics come and they go - this one formed on the failure and repression and murder of Europe and other parts of the world. We changed the bad shit and moved into the top spot in the struggle and the passion. And now as it was inevitable we have become what we ran away from. We'll fix it or we'll split up and become like Europe and reconfigure The United Sates and morph into something that deal with change better.
But I do not think we are going to magically run to the polls in November and solve this or even make headway. America is run by a binary system of filthy rich powerful people and they aren't going to give that up because we didn't like them on Facebook or vote for them. We got a Red Franchise and a Blue Franchise...one professes to be Conservative and preserve and promote Conservative values and the other one professes to be Liberal and preserve and promote Liberal ideas.
