That is very nice. I have always preferred engraving that accentuates but does not over power.
All that's needed now is a Tom Threepersons with similar tooling and dyed background in blue.

You better get a kidskin or deerskin lined holster for packin' that around. I can't tell you how many nicely finished pistols get ruined by a shitty fitting holster, and sometimes with rivets exposed.

Colt New Service in .45 Long Colt... which is a pretty rare cal. for a New Service.

I thought the New Service in .45LC was pretty popular since it got adopted by the US Army for a while?
I'd like one in .455 Webley myself.
Huge numbers were converted to Moon Clips... or converted for Brits. So a surviving, all-original civilian New Service (not 1917) in .45 LC is relatively rare. Not a unicorn, by any means. But not common either!

Ahhh that makes sense, same as how all those wonderful Webleys were buggered over into moon-clips for .45ACP too. Now finding one with an intact cylinder is far more difficult.
Here's mine. Also in .45Colt. I've been very tempted to do just what you did. I'm not brave enough to take apart a 100+ year old hand fitted Colt, though. Not many Colt gunsmiths around.

I'm in awe of the skillset involved in doing that work.
Not to mention the pucker factor, though they're probably well beyond that I guess...
It's just hard for me to comprehend hours of tedious, precise handwork with NO leeway for error.
Seems to me even more precise than a surgeon's work- at least they might have a chance to "fix" a slip of the hand.
Here, it would ruin the piece. Although, I suppose there's probably some tricks to the trade to hide/cover a minor slip of the hand?

Wow! I just followed one on GB that just sold for $2025.00
