Gunsmithing 80 percent lowers

Biden will most like have them banned. Better get them while they are hot. Very difficult to find now. I just bought some here https://americanmadetactical.com/product/80-lower-ar-15-forged-anodized/
I've used the forged lowers from American made tactical. They are good to go, but I see they've jacked the prices up $20

Their billet 80% lowers are junk though. Don't buy the billets. I sent 2 of them back for being out of spec. They didn't even want to here it. Bet $ they turned around and resold them to some poor smuck. The rear take down pocket was to wide by like .007. Can't put metal back so they'd have been sloppy as hell.
I did build a large frame billet from them & again it was out of spec. Mag catch to low etc. It runs like a champ now but was a total PITA to get ironed out. I've got a long detailed thread on that large frame build.

I like to call mine a block of aluminum for later its undescript and lets on nothing It could be your future tea spoon making project or if things get bad enough you could make something more usefull out of it . If you have the other parts a tea kettle that fires 556 lol what ever your imagination could come up with . but for the money while they are legal its hard to beat they come with everything you need to tap out a really nice pair of dancing shoes . most under 50.00 that price may have changed . and no markings required since it is nothing but a block . Yea for blocks of aluminum . now if I could only get 24 carrot gold blocks as cheap .

Thats disappointing to hear. I did buy the forged. They will sit on the shelf for quite a will before I get to build so I won't know the quality until then. I already have couple that I machined from another manfufacturer. I just bought a few more as a FU to the libturds

Given the current status, $20 increase is disappointing, but isn't that bad. Im looking for a $2000 sig rifle that is now selling for over $3000 damn

Have built a few, 80% arms, Km tactical billet and modulus arms billet. Liked the km ones with their billet uppers the best. Also got into 1911 and 2011 80% they are a lot more work and money. I enjoy the projects though.

I've done 1 so far from 80 percent arms. Used a hand drill and made one side of the safety selector switch a little too big, but should be ok. I just ordered another from them and it shipped in under 10 days. FYI for anyone looking.

there is no legal way to ban an 80% lower......as "80%" is not a legal definition......its a trade-name for lack of a better word....according to the ATF, either its a gun, or it isnt....

if you were to ban 80%s, youd essentially have to ban raw barstock as well.

regarding 80%....they are a fun project....and if you have the right tools and skills, they can turn out just fine...

unfortunately most people try to hog them out with a drill press so they look like sweaty dog ass.....even the ones carved out with a router look like shit, i mean theyll assemble and run just fine usually....but you can easily tell its not done on a milling machine.

regarding "keeping them off the books".....i mean sure.....you can also more easily just buy an AR lower from someone in a private sale and skip the hassle.

I'm buying one for every family member I got for a Christmas gift!
What they do with it is up to them.

If they complete it then I will give them the kits.
The uppers is on their dime

Biden will ban them by making it illegal to build your own and/or have any off the books firearms

thats a state issue, and federally it would have to go through the senate....he cant do that through EO and the ATF doesnt have the authority to enforce that.

It is largely a state issue as you've said. Doesn't mean Biden couldn't make things worse. With a left AG and his sycophants placed in the ATF I expect problems. Executive orders might be attempted.

They will spin their web carefully though to avoid a hard smack down by current SC. I'm not worried about sleepy Joe the blowhard, it's those that are pulling his strings that have me concerned.

As per your quote. That option is not possible in MD. Private sales are subject to mandatory registration since 95 or 96 on all regulated weapons (Handguns, AR, AK etc.). They've tried the past 2 years in a row to change that to include all weapons. They've also gone after 80% lowers & outright all AR15's the past 2 years straight. They have been very careful trying to write convoluted and ridiculous legislation in such a way as to avoid SC.
I really think the best hedge in a state like mine is to have a 1 to 1 80% for every registered lower. They have no issue creating felons with a stroke of a pen here. Last 2 years most of us that showed up to testify/protest wore "WE WILL NOT COMPLY" shirts and 6 sheriffs publicly stated the same.
The fight won't end until SC grows a pair and ends this BS. They can see through the smoke and mirrors, yet have been spinless to date.
Thank God Trump put 3 on the bench..........maybe finally we can get some correction of this nonsense.
