These Peltors worth it at 40% off

I have a pair of those and they work great, and attaching them to a helmet is the most practical use for them. One of the cons is that they are HUGE, and if you're not using the comms plug the lead will need to be secured to the head seat (mine are coiled up an taped) which makes them a little ungainly.

There's better options out there if you don't require a wired comms head set. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

With coupon

BFPELTOR40

Id be paying $582.13 shipped.

@TheGerman

What does the "rich" buy for electronic ear pro.....thinking someday to mount these to a helmet.
not a good deal at all. thats a ridiculously high price only to offer a coupon to a lower but also ridiculous price. Andrew over in the exchange has been selling comtac V's for $295 w/o coms and $375 with. Ive seen other V's going on Instagram for a little over $400 in the last couple weeks. V's are better and newer than the III's.

I personally have peltor tactical 100’s mounted onto my helmet. They are still comfortable after having them for a couple years now. They can also accept the gel cups if that’s something you want.

Unless you’re using milspec PTT and or radios, there’s really no specific need for those. The peltors I have still have the standard 3.5mm audio jack which I use for comms. This allows me to hear audio into the ear pro and talk into the PTT (radio mic) I have.

Aslrookie is correct. When you need noise reduction while maintaining comms these are great, especially with the gel cups. I've used them at a few shooting classes but they are too big when the comms requirement isn't there.

Hmmmm, I assumed comms accessories would be removable if not in use.

Why I asked.

Didnt realize @Andrew1182 was also selling Comtac, thought only EPs. Id much rather buy off a member here.

Thank you.

Use would be class/qualification where I have to listen to line commands.

Currently I use foam plugs in the ear with muffs over.

Do to a lifetime of stupidity around loud noises it can be daunting sometimes to hear verbal commands.

With a helmet these would ride in the back of a car in conjunction with my plate carrier neither of which have much liklihood to be used as intended...only in training.

I do have a radio (Motorola) and it came with all the leads to hook up to the headset in a worst case scenario.

Size matters.

Scoped rifle I dont generally use the muffs because they interfere or get pushed away with cheek weld. Line commands are not as detailed in PSR either.

Id intend the muffs for pistol and carbine where commands are more dynamic/there is comms with other shooters and cheek weld is not so critical.

So the defenders are ear protection with out the coms aspect. if you dont see yourself needing walkie talkie/ comms use than I suggest the defenders. no cord hanging down. really good hearing protection. the electronic side with amplifying people talking even at great distance while still lowering loud noises absolutely blows my mind. Ive got Peltor Tactical Sports and the Comtac V defenders and the defenders are better by a mile in that regard and alot thinner and smaller for less interference with cheek weld on a rifle.
also check out noisefighters gel ear pads. they have cuts so your glasses/ shades can ride a little lower without breaking the seal on your head.

How often do you fly in helicopters and get comms to tell you to pull the trigger?

Must suck to be poor

I have economized by sticking to R700 rifles and not AI in the endeavor to pour my money into tacticool accessories and ammo. Trying to get the last of the toys before gas is at $7.00/gallon and anything FA related is under NFA34 with a $200 tax.

I could make connection to the work Motorola if need be but the thought is also there that when the big one comes Ill pick up a device off some other LARP that no longer needs his and Ill have the capability.

If I ever get the chance to shoot with some New England area Hide peeps I dont want to feel all poor using a set of Caldwell ear muffs.

So the Mic can be removed but not the long cord that hangs out of the bottom of one of the ears. thats what guy above was talking about with having to tie his off.

Yep, that was news to me. Thought it would be like Ops Core and detachable.

A cord tail aint cool, especially if using as standard ear pro sans helmet.

Guess i could grow a man bun and loop it over that.

I felt the same way. Was ok when I had issues with my single com comtacs and exchanged them for defenders. that nonremovable lead was a bit of a disappointing aspect. who wants a cord hanging off their ear when they dont need it.

I rarely use ptt, and if i have to i usually just sign out some peltors because I refuse to pay 500+ bucks on some ear pro, so I usually just run some walkers with noise fighter gel pads. Fits under my helmet fine and does what it needs to do

We don't make fun of the poors. We are a hugely inclusive group

Sorry for the bad pic, but here is one way to deal with the non removable down lead.

Not a bad picture at all. An elegant solution in fact.

As infrequently or as rare my use of a comms hook up would be Ill opt for defenders or whatever @Andrew1182 can get in coyote and cheap.

Would like to have them for a class end of December.

Its the headsets I use, but not at that price.

There are also literally a million different places that make an aftermarket headband cover for them that you can stow the cable inside of when its not on a helmet.
