I have a discount certificate from a match last year for vortex. I have a new 6gt almost done. The question I have is a concern of running out of dial in the scope. Those with a gen 2 razor how many of you run out of elevation in a match. One that i shoot each year goes out to 1700. I shot my 6.5 prc last year with an athlon etr. Was thinking about not using the certificate and getting a mark 5... thoughts?

The Razor Gen II 4.5-27 has about 120 MOA of elevation. You should be fine well past a mile especially if you have a 20 MOA base.

so it says 71 MOA max on the vortex site so you aresaying, to be clear, total adjustment is over 120? Max listed on their site would be with a 0 MOA base? Not sure why they don’t list total...

I’m not sure why they list it like that, but yes, mine was around 120 total. B&H and other resellers quote 113 MOA and 33 MRAD total elevation. It’s among the highest of the scopes in its class, although definitely beaten by ZCO.

Never ran out of elevation at a match. On my 20 MOA base I usually have around 21 mils of elevation. Shooting most matches you only shoot to around 1200 yards or so and only using about 14 mils with my .308 and good deal less with 6 and 6.5s. If you needed that much dial elevation then get a 40 MOA base. Or you can use the reticle for any left over. I wouldn't plan a purchase around a single shot in one match. I'd work around that.

makes sense.. miscalculated in my app guesstimating what I would need for The gt to dial at 1760. I have a 3-18 razor on a 300 prc and with the 20 in the rail and a 100 yard zero I have 24.9 mils left in the turret. So I am assuming that Imay only need to hold a mil in the reticle at a mile for the GT. Yeah I know that if I start shooting the matches in southern indiana they only go to about 600 yards.
