Suppressors Ultra 7 vs Ultra 9?

These two cans are currently in the top running for my next purchase. Anybody have both or tried them out side by side? Getting the obvious out of the way, the weight and price difference is negligible. I’m more curious about the 2” difference (there is a joke in there somewhere). All my current suppressors are K models for the weight savings and length. Obviously with precision rifles these don’t matter as much.
So all things considered equal besides length, which would you choose? Anyone have a 9 that wishes they got the 7 or vice versa? I’m leaning toward the 9 but I’ve never had a 9” suppressor hanging off my already long 24” barrel. What does the Hide recommend?

I have the TBAC 338ultra love it, use it on my 300PRC (10.5lb with scope) shoots like a pussy cat.
Also have both the 7" and 9" ultra's in 30cal, both very nice. depending on what rifles I'm running them on it is hard to tell the difference .

If you want to hit the two ends of the spectrum, go 338 Ultra-SR and Dominus-K-SR; or 338 Ultra and Ultra 5, for mount compatibility (sort of-- latter pair needs CB2BA also). The Ultra 9, even a gen 1, is a very good match to 300 Win Mag, though. Don't feel like that's not enough.

Going to place an order with a cert for the 338 ultra... I’ll need a CB2BA adapter to run it on CB mounts? Also, is there a Gen 2 338 ultra in the works? I have a couple orders placed with June-July time frames, looking to add another on

I know I can't add valuable info regarding the Ultra 7 vs Ultra 9 debate. But have you considered a Dominus? It offers more sound suppression than the Ultra 7 but less than the 9 so it sits between those two. It is also shorter than the 7.

Good luck...

I had the same question last year and I went with the Ultra 7. Then I Picked up the 338SR. I don’t have any regrets with the Ultra 7 over the Ultra 9.

Being that it is a year later, if i were in your shoes again I Would probably do the Dominus K and 338SR.

I'm switching my order to a dominus tomorrow. Was going with another Ultra 7 but since the dominus is shorter and quieter, it will be better for hunting when I get around to it.

I think that's a great option. I was wanting an Ultra5 or Ultra7. TBAC recommended me the Dominus since it falls in between both, lengthwise. My uses for it will be hunting and banging steel.

The 338 Ultra has the larger BA mount, so to use it on a CB mount you need the CB2BA adapter.

The Gen2 changes in the small-frame Ultras do not drop into the large-frame 338 Ultra and "just work". We are doing some R&D on a 338 revision but I have no idea what the ETA will be to get gains we consider worthwhile.

I did the Dominus CB for a little bit more ruggedness on an AR (not full auto rated without SR mount) but still more quiet and compact than an Ultra 7 which is an awesome can in it’s own right.

Just started my wait but looking forward to it.

1015 yds, Ultra 7, does not suck.

I've looked at the Dominus but for the extra cash I don’t really need a hard use can. My collection already contains plenty of hard use ones. I’ve adopted the policy of “each rifle gets a suppressor”. So this won’t be put on anything besides a precision rifle. I also have no plan to jump up from anything .30 cal. I’ve seen plenty mention the 338, is the extra weight and length worth the cost? I know they meter the quietest but I’m not sure that’s worth the extra cost as well. I did get an offer that might make a 338 cheaper but still.
