VALDADA G2 Recon NEW VADADA CONTENT

Dad will never forgive me for my optic choices...

This thread had so much misinformation I felt I should join and straiten a few things out. I would like to be up front here and say I have no affiliation with any of the companies. I have however used and owned IOR scopes and whilst I do not own a Valdada G2 I have looked through them and had a quick play with them.

Probably the best place to start is with IOR. There appears to be some confusion as to who they are. IOR is a very well established Romanian optics manufacturer. They make everything from microscopes to industrial optic systems. One of the biggest confusion is the relationship between IOR and Valdada, so lets set this strait. Valdada is a completely separate company run by completely different people. Valdada just happen to import products made buy IOR to the US.

The Valdada G2 Recon has absolutely no connection with IOR or the similarly named Recon and Recon Mk2 aka Gen 2 scopes from IOR. The Valdada G2 Recon is actually made by Light Optics Works in Japan. They are a OEM manufacturers that makes most of the high end Japanese made scopes.

That was a stronger reaction than I expected. I can see there is genuine hate here but am interested to know why. given it appears to cover multiple models and brands I am guessing it's more a hate for Valdada than a specific product. Bad customer service perhaps? Shoddy business practices maybe?

I'm still a little confused... he says this thread has so much misinformation so he must have read it. Then he says "That was a stronger reaction than I expected. I can see there is genuine hate here but am interested to know why." Did you read the thread or not @Olafson? If you did, your questions would be answered. If you haven't, go ahead and read through this 13 page abomination and your questions will be answered

Oh, thank God that you have opened our eyes to the wonder that is IOR.... If only I had known this previously I wouldn't have wasted my hard earned money on those S&B, TT, and other turds. What a revelation it is to know that IOR might be good in Europe but that their US rep is nothing but a worthless shill with dishonest marketing and unethical practices. Also a major enlightenment that the Gen2 is Japanese and must be absolutely amazing compared to everything else in the market because VAL says so.

If you had bothered to read this thread or any of the others concerning IOR Valdada in the last 5 years you would know that all of this has been beat to death and in the end none of us care because we like our money and want to use it wisely. There is absolutely no love for this manufacturer/rep combo. But I do have one question for you. IOR does make a spotting scope (Optolyth) and if their glass is so amazing, even discounting the mechanical issues of their riflescopes. Why is Swarovski the gold standard? Why do Leica, Zeiss, Kowa, etc sell the number of spotting scopes they do. Honestly I've no idea what the numbers are but I have yet to see the Optolyth in the wild and yet the Swaro is very prevalent amongst the most penny pinching of the shooting world...

Optolyth is owned by Sill Optics GMBH. No affiliation whatsoever with IOR. Just another of many brands Val has bought and re-sold in the US.

Not Romania.

I'm not saying they are good, nor am I saying they are bad. Just that some guys like to make shit up. No offense intended.

Optolyth is pretty decent although association with Val did not do them any favours in the US. I recently had a small monocular I bought from them fog up and the repair was through a different entity, not through Val. It took a while, but they fixed it pro bono despite it being out of warranty.

Valdada is kind of a poison pill in the US. European manufacturers would probably do well to avoid them when exporting.

Valdada also imports/imported for Docter/Jena. It's probably just a matter of time before their reputation takes a hit as a result.

And you're failing to read the posts referencing tracking issues. What I've read in this thread alone is enough for me to know NOT to consider one and spend my money on other brands with more proven track records. Has nothing to do with me being pissed off at them.

But hey, keep trying to sell us on these.

Please don't stop this thread, the entertainment value is priceless! This is my first post on SH so I want to make sure that I am respectful to the community. I just HAD to get in on this and see if I could get some abuse! The attention given to the G2 here is unprecedented. Reading all the posts just makes me want to run out and buy a dada G2 Recon and perch it on my match grade Howa 1500 mini action in 7.62x39 complete with flexible POS plastic stock and rattling magazines that fall out when you look at them wrong! Of course I will be shooting fine steel cased Russian precision ammunition to compliment the entire system. Maybe I can get TR to perform some accuracy magic for me as well to further realize the capability of the G2! Since I am new to the site, please give me some pointers on how to offend everyone in the proper manner in order to get the maximum amount of criticism and stay up past midnight again tonight! All kidding aside, great site with invaluable information! Carry on!

Ok @Millrat1... Being respectful in the Pit is like being being gay dude in the motivational thread. So if you have opinions, let em fly.

As to your choice of precision rifle, I don't think the 7.62x39 is a good choice. It just doesn't carry the velocity past a few thousand yards. The gay tiger might be a better option. Or even the 30-06 if you're really wanting to stretch the legs of the Vablahblah scope.

As the originator of this post I would like to say welcome. Just remember that there is nothing wrong with being gay and I support your alternative lifestyle 100%

Val certainly fucked it up with Me, and this site, he ruined that show in a big way, I will never cut that guy any slack.

However if these scopes were salvageable and I am not saying they aren't, like we have done many times in the past you can work with a company and fix a problem. You can take the error data and determine, okay, 80% of our failures are this erector system or spring system and then swap it out, working with people who use the products often creates a much better product. But Val is forced to chase the C team, which has no clue how to make an optic successful in short order. Think about the programs and systems SH has been behind that took off, vs the ones we passed on.

But why waste our time, why waste the effort, there are more than enough quality scope companies out there without VAL that people can work with,

PS the Oplyths suck too, we had a good one down at Rifles Only and it could not handle the heat and mirage of south texas, it was unusable. The instructors used to race to not use that spotter, it was completely useless on that range. It was like reverse musical chairs, the last one to get the Oplyth was out. I understand the newer HD versions are supposed to be good, but the one we had was supposed to be good too, was terrible.

Summation.... Several to many people, with the experience, knowledge, skill set, that have tried these optics say don't bother because they are lacking in quality and dollar for dollar X,Y and Z are far superior.
But Mr. Know-it-all , actually several KIA's, puff up and say wait a minute. You don't know Jack.
Man, ya gotta love the WWW.
If the people saying don't bother were just some dudes on bar stools it would be different. But well know shooters from around the country? Sheesh.

What is funny is, the ones that call and talk to Val get all sorts of sad sack stories and then sucked into his hole to have their brains sucked out by the Romanian Vampire Legend

wheels start turning they think, sponsor- free scope, as the blood drains from their body, the empty husk rises, and all it remembers is it’s love for that scope

but in the end it’s an IOR, they whither and die

Back in the mid 90's a young guy on the hunting club spent a bunch of money on an IOR scope to replace the cheap Simmons 44Mag scope on his 270.
I dont remember him killing single deer the whole time he hunted with that IOR scope. He was for ever more missing/wounding/losing them. That thing never did hold zero worth a hoot.
Tail end of the season he re-mounted that cheap Simmons and went back to killing deer.

Yeah I hate it when I scope sucks. I think I've had a couple Leopold's that after thousand rounds you can pretty much throw them away.. I saw a guy at the range the other day using an Athlon Ares ETR with his 338 Lapua and The Recoil broke the scope it was brand new. I think we need a boycott Athlon now

@lowlight that was special

LOL

why, I have a tool that is 10x more fun, I have no reason to speak to trolls privately

You think it's cool and funny to jump in and out trolling people, so if the shoe fits, wear it proudly,

You keep wanting the IOR threads alive, we don't, although they do give us hours of enjoyment our reasoning is different than yours and feel those steering people down a dead end should include a warning

I'm glad you treat contributing members to you're site so well

That's true I said that but you haven't been exactly nice to me either. But what you've done is the equivalent of a kid having a temper tantrum and taking his ball home so no one else could play with it.
And I do more than just contribute posts I am a supporter of your site.
