I just had two new bcm uppers arrive today specifically because of all the gun ban talk. I will not comply with any sort of gun confiscation, so the next move is theirs.
You should probably just go drop all your guns off at the police station now with that kind of attitude, you aren’t going to do that 2a cause any good anyway.

Yea I didn’t see a need for one either until I finally got one and spent way too much money on it. One of my favorite guns to shoot now.
Sounds like you have given up already. Buy the AR. The more of these that are out there, the harder it is to do anything with. What makes you think they won't be after your bolt gun next because its a "sniper rifle"?

If my observations are correct, this could all end up becoming a matter for litigation based upon injury to person or property due to illegal action in the Government's part. It's about 'standing', and it's the crux of the legal questions that defeated the Texas lawsuit. In order to have standing one must have already personally experienced injury. Being compelled to pay an illegal tax/fee would be that injury. Anyone else just gets to whistle Dixie; they have no legal standing because they suffered no injury.
It might also be a basis for a class action suit, but I would not favor that. Dismissal of such a suit would disqualify any further suits on the same basis. Better to bring individual suits. Winning one of them would work in the opposite direction, disqualifying government suits on the same basis. It's sorta like getting a checker all the to the other side of the board, making it a king.
Now I'm no lawyer, and my reasoning may be full of holes. Lawyers make their daily bread by creating and using such holes. Having some professional commentary on this post could be beneficial, even if it all just boils down to me being full of it.
There's something about this past year that prompts me to see all of us as just a heap of pawns, to be moved and expended at the whim of people who are rightfully employed to be our servants. I think it's time a few of them felt the figurative lash.

I have not read this thread so I am responding to the OP. I have to admit part of my brain want to sell mine. Most of my brain see this as a losing battle with my side a bunch of self involved, narcissistic little panic buying school girls. I hang my head in shame to be part of such a group in such an important fight.
A group who purports to be fighting for our god given, inalienable, enumerated constitutionally reaffirmed civil rights.
K pop teen girls are more feared politically than gun owners. I think of my Uncle who died on a mountain in Italy by Nazi soldiers fighting for our rights, having barely reached adulthood and the shame is almost unbearable.
I have four and would build another if I needed another AR15 caliber.
Now I'm just focusing on reloading components where they become available. I think that and ammo is where the bedwetters are going to try to strike.

I live in California and have been building as much as I can reasonably afford to while I still can. There will be plenty of time to buy bolt and lever actions later, but if something stops me from building more ARs in the future, I don't want to kick myself for not building when I could have. Which is why I'm finally getting around to finishing the Mk12 Mod 0 inspired build that I've always wanted. Either way, I'll have enough on-hand for me, my wife, and our immediate family. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
Don't mean to get too political here but remember what was the genesis of both Ruby Ridge and Branch Davidian standoffs - attempts by police to serve warrants on/arrest members for firearms violations. If you seriously think gun confiscation is a viable alternative in the U.S. would do well to study these two incidents. Anyone who spends any time around people who own and enjoy shooting firearms knows people who are not going to meekly surrender their firearms if instructed to do so by the feds. Many of these people are better armed and more proficient with firearms than the local PD. And an awful lot of police officers tend to be supporters of the second amendment themselves and will not be particularly enthusiastic about risking their lives to confiscate guns from their fellow citizens.
That's to say nothing of the economic cost of reimbursing gun owners for any property the government seizes. Fifth Amendment requires due process and just compensation if the government attempts to seize private property for public use. How many AR15's are in civilian hands today? Let's say 10 million (I suspect it's more). Assume fair market value of an AR15 is $500 (pretty conservative). That's five billion dollars the U.S. would have to spend to confiscate all these guns. And the end result is zero increase in public safety. In fact, I recently saw a statistic that in 2018 more people were killed with hammers than with AR15's. The bottom line - despite what Beto O'Rourke may think, confiscation won't work in this country.
However, a ban on future sales of "assault" weapons? Prohibiting braces (and possibly making them retroactively illegal). Prohibiting future SBR's (or increasing the cost of a tax stamp tenfold). A tax on ammo. Registration of all firearms with the ATF. All of those are very real possibilities - particularly if Dems get control of the Senate.
All I can tell you is that I used to live in MA and thanks to changes unilaterally imposed by our state AG I was able to sell several guns (which had thousands of rounds through them) for twice what I paid for them. Most civilians who own AR-15s can’t even execute a single bound in individual movement techniques without an excessively-elevated heart rate. This includes half of the guys who have spent thousands of dollars on courses with all the recognized trainers.
We’re into the 2nd generation of an obesity epidemic among children, while one of the major segregators for military service is failure to meet height/weight standards (and that’s after they’ve been relaxed).
Armored vehicles chuckle at you with your AR-15 as they come in after full drone ISR reconnaissance and targeting of your location, once your neighbors have dimed you out for being a "right-winger” or Trump-supporter crazy, if they don’t have mosaic data on you already, complete with your photo embedded locations enabled with geocoordinates.

Vietcong, NVA, and the Viet militias were very physically-fit. No obesity epidemic there, and spent most of their time outside working, carrying things, pushing bicycles full of rice bags, mortar rounds, digging and filling-in craters, squatting while picking rice, etc.
Taliban are acclimated to the mountains and go up and down the trails like goats, fighting rival tribes and armies all their known lives.
Nobody needs to mess with negotiating with you in your home or whatever position you’ve run to. Solving that tactical problem is as easy as it was thousands of years ago, and ANTIFA has been practicing it at most of their recent attacks.

I’m in better shape now then when I was kicking in doors for the gov. And I am not bound by following orders or Geneva convention when the time comes. America was built by underdogs for underdogs.

They are often rewarded with narcotics, told what a great job they are doing for the revolution, making these capitalist scum pay for their crimes, and emboldened for the next objective.
They collapse on the cities after recruiting enough muscle and acquiring more weapons until they have more company and battalion-size elements to be able to overcome the police and military, who are still under orders to basically do static security.
Meanwhile, generals in the military who show any hint of not being revolution supporters are summarily executed in front of the others and replaced with yes-men. Same with police.
It has literally been done like this every time.
If you don’t have the right plan, your AR-15s and ammo will feed the revolutionaries after they have taken them off of your mutilated corpse, after forcing you to watch them rape your wife, daughters, and sons. They might recruit your children into the movement if they see potential for them, once you and your wife have been slaughtered like sheep. This kind of thing happens in Africa all the time.
