I am a SOTIC 1 grad (2011) and I am Currently retired looking to get back into long range shooting. We used Trimble PDA’s with the ATRAG software. My questions are what is the best software out there now and where can I purchase it?

Hornady 4DOF or Applied Ballistics.

You can do the Hornady app, or pair it with the 4DOF Kestrel. The other option is the Kestrel 5700 with Applied Ballistics and run the app on your phone, off the handheld, or on the HUD.

I like Trasol. I use my Kestrel to gather environmental data only.

As a graduate and instructor of that course I think a Kestrel with AB is the easiest transition. Where to buy, pm me if that’s the route you’re looking to go. I’ve tried a ton of the phone apps and I consider a kestrel with AB or 4DOF the best for my applications.

Current bleeding edge is Kestrel AB and he's also go the HUD on there as well. This guy sotic NCOIC

I tried the hud, the current version, I wouldn’t throw my support behind using it. Too big, and the software is clunky if that makes sense. I think it’s 1/2 to something awesome.

For a small one and done solution, I’d agree.

Yeah the major downside is the cost, not sure what ts has in mind for a budget but it’s definitely a consideration.

Thanks fellas. I ended Up going with the Kestrel 5700 Elite with Link. So far it has been working well and have been shooting out to 800 yards. Need to find a bigger range now.
