I’m picking up a new rock River arms upper for general purpose use I’ll be shooting 55gr soft point and 55gr fmj for the most part. (Because that’s all I have and can find reasonably now). I would like this barrel be first reliable, second long lasting and third accurate. I have other AR’s in 224V and 6.5G for long range precision shooting. This one will be for self defense and plinking. Is there any reason I should not go with a Chrome lined bore? I assume a stainless barrel would be more accurate but how much more accurate, and how many fewer rounds would it last compared to the chrome lined barrel? I have never owned a chrome lined rifle barre of any kind is there anything that I should know about them?
Thanks for the advice!

Some are more accurate than others. Based on order of your criteria, then yeah, you want a good chrome lined barrel.

If you want the best KAC chrome lines some of their cut rifle barrels.

A good LMT 14.5 milspec M4 will shoot about 1.5MOA with handloaded M855. I have two of these for rack rifles myself.

Noveske makes one of the best I know of, they use/used to use SAW blanks. I got a switchblock barrel like this pretty cheap a couple years ago I'm gonna use on a Noveske receiver and handguard to essentially build a factory rifle. Noveske non-chome lined SS barrels are also the titties and my goto for SBR barrels. But my goto SBR is an 11.5" SS Noveske barreled rifle.

SCAR's use hammer forged, chrome lined barrels. Super fucking tough, and some of those are actually sub-MOA (with the Mk20 at least).

If you want inexpensive, but still quality, FN makes chrome lined, hammer forged AR barrels for like $200-something.

I agree, you need to have at least one 5.56 chromed blaster.

Given the ammo you're planning the shoot, barrel choice is not much of an issue, assuming it's not pure junk.

CL is very durable as is a nitrided barrel.

Your ammo choice is likely the limiting factor in your accuracy.

Wow, great find. Why is this such a decent price? Hard to find uppers right now... Would you choose this over a BCM or alternative?
It’s CHF and cL barrel. geissele dose have very good QC. For BCM chf upper is 800. Now if he wanted a SPR style upper i would recommend White Oak.
