Has any one seen or modified a Rem 700 to take stripper clips?
I have read about the conversion and a screw on guide that mounted on the rear scope mount.
I have a LH Rem 700 in 30-06 that I mounted a scout scope on years ago. Since I sold my FN49 last year and have a couple ammo cans of clip mounted 30-06
I thought the mod to the 700 might work.

Early 700s had the feature.

It was nothing more than a square cut on the rear bridge.

For the USMC M40 they did a more detailed design to include angles and little "tit" slots for the standard mil clip to lock in to. A much nicer done job.

Either will do what you seek.

Ive not seen the screw on guide but I have no doubt they exist.

I had an M40 built buy @Raven 6 . He is able to do the more detailed spec stripper clip cut.

What is your goal? Are you taking your rifle to matches requiring rapid fire reloads?

Kudos if so.

I am currently on LIR's sight but have not found that service yet, I will contact them with my needs.
I only was thinking about doing this mod only because I have several cans of 30-06 on stripper clips, that might become handy in the future.
This is not something that is pressing, just popped into my head.

LRI does a stripper clip cut in relation to installing a clip slotted lugged scope base per USMC tradition.

Its more a function of locking the scope rail to the receiver rather than for loading stripper clips but reality is the USMC just adopted the idea realizing their M40s had stripper clip cuts and it made for a stronger base mount to use lugged bases.

I have no doubt @LongRifles Inc. could cut your receiver to function with stripper clips.

Perhaps you should seek out a 1903?

Reading "Last Stand of Fox 2/7" right now.

While fighting ChiComs at Tok Tong Pass at Chosin Res they were resupplied with M1903 ammo (stripper clips) that made running their Garands a multi step process - load the enbloc, load the rifle, shoot - repeat.

The book also mentions they got a few boxes of M1903 rifles to go with the ammo.

This is my 5 digit receiver at LRI right now. This receiver has the simplified Remington square cut stripper clip.....

This is the receiver after LRI relieved the rear deck and cut the nose relief for the front lug.....

If you get your receiver cut for stripper clips you will need to make the front round cut to allow the tips of the bullets to push in.

This is a picture of the more complex/detailed M40 style stripper clip cut......
