What is the opinion on the thumb depression that Manners has added to some of their stocks? Is it a useful feature?

Have a T4A on order but was considering changing to a T4A Team.

I have a prs1t and I really enjoy shooting with it!

The thumb shelf is a nice, and well worth added feature IMHO.

BUT

It also depends on your hands (small, med, large, huge). No two of us are a like.

I am in the process of switching all of manners to them.

I did call them and ask them if I could send some stocks back if they could add the thump shelf to them.

Their answer was “the thumb shelf is molded into the stock, but I could modify my stocks to add it without voiding their warranty”.

It’s a nice feature. If you can change sure do it but if not you won’t have an issue either with just laying your thumb in the same area on their other stocks. I have stock with and without the feature and shoot all equally well. I see it as a nice to have versus a must have.

I like the shelf as well and am surprised it’s not an option on all the stocks, particularly the PRS2.

They can and will add the shelf, but be advised it’s cut into the material and painted over, similar to the ejection port. Unlike the models where they’re standard and molded in so the carbon fiber wrap remains.

odd. i have a PRS1 with the thumb shelf

thumb shelf is a nice upgrade

i dont know that i'd run anything besides a TCS if i was getting a new one. if the TCS fixes the barrel channel and inlet issues on the regular PRS stocks plus the other added features it's a no brainer

What issues?

minor inletting/sanding by gunsmith/end user to make barrel channel even or just open enough to have a free floating barrel. open bolt handle channel enough for specified actions. correct LOP.

basically the variability that comes from offering so many options versus the universal inlet style of basically every chassis and now the manners TCS and McMillan Z1/Z10

Hmm never had those issues with my PRS stocks. Ordered them for the right contour a d barrel channels were fine and the bolt handle cut depends on action and should be ordered accordingly. I switched one of mine to a swept back 700 from what I ordered with a straight Surgeon so I did a little Dremel on it but now it fits both but it fit as it should have when ordered.

I've always thought they cut their profile specific channels a little on the tight side myself, so I just started ordering them 1.300 straight. It also let's you change profiles later on. I'm curious what their "universal" channel looks like?

Yeah my most recent is a heavy palma. And its nice and centered and opened enough...right up until the palma taper and then it opens back up to being fine. Few minutes with a sanding sponge and some 400 grit and it'll be good to go
