I plan on taking my SCAR 17S to 1,000 yards next Friday. It will be shot off a tripod, with the following attachments/upgrades: Trijicon ACOG 3.5 .308 BDC, Geissele Super SCAR trigger, SilencerCo Omega .30, 175 SMK handloads and/or 175 SMK FGMM. Think I can make it? Lets hear it gents.

It’s not that hard to hit steels at 1000 yards. How big of a target 2-4 moa ? Do you have someone spotting you ? Had no issues hitting 1000 with a 16” 308 with factory FGMM SMK 175 at 2450 FPS.
Your bottleneck is obviously going to be that acog. This is where you’d have to aim for 1000 at 4500 DA SMK 2450 FPS.
Also if you can see your splashes, depending on the weather and terrain, it’ll make a big difference.
But yeah, slap a Razor 1-10 on that bad boy and 1000 yards becomes pretty easy.

How many shots?
I could do 1,000 with a 22 and a 3-9 bushnell with enough shots. Are we talking walking a legit shot in or sending out a sight impaired squirrel to locate a nut?

A 308 will not make it to 1,000 yards!!
A 6.5 CM however will hold MOA to over 7 miles
I think that rep came from the 168 SMK. All of my 1000 yards 308 shooting was at transonic/subsonic velocities and never had any projos misbehaved and I shot 155 amax, 175 SMK, 175 TMK, 175 Berger tactical and 208 amax at that distance.
Tripod and optic choice make it harder than it needs to be, but is absolutely doable provided your SCAR likes 175's, many do not.
I've never shot at this range, so it'll be new to me. That's the exact model ACOG also. Never planned on shooting more than the 800 yards the BDC supplies. Just cause they have a 1,000 I'd try it. If a friend joins he has a spotter.
I have 6 boxes of the FGMM and 4 boxes of the handloads. Last time I shot the rifle was with the handloads at steel at 640 yards. I'm going in knowing it's going to be hard with the shorter barrel. But just having fun to be honest.
I've read on the FN Forum that the 155 Scenars do well with the 17S. I will have to snatch some up to try out.
I figure the extra height off the ground would help with elevation. Optic is a battle optic not a precision optic.

We shot 308 to 1k at the KD ranges in Benning during all army. They will make it there no problem. The cool part is sitting in the butts and listening to them seem to “fall” out of the air into the trees right behind the target line. Seems like 1k yards and hitting a soft target took everything out of them and they died right there.
I'm sorry if I stated that wrong. I was talking in correlation that if I shot off the ground on a bipod vs standing shooting off a tripod. The tripod would give me an advantage since it's higher off the ground and will give me a bit more flight time.
Been seeing those for sale locally during pandemic for $50-$60 a box. Would like to stock up on some.
