Wanting to build a 6mm creedmoor with either a 16.5in or 18in barrel also wanting to shoot hornady 75 or 87 grain v max has anyone done this before ? Also this will have a silencer attached most of its life. Any input would be great

Check the 16-18” shorty rifle thread. You might find one.

Just a 19" barrel cut up. I'll have data in a few weeks. Reviewing the shorty thread and other threads, 2850-2900 with 110+ gr seems quite possible. Should be a handy package

Rem 700P cut to 18" w/ DeadAir Sandman shoots Hornady 75gr VMax very well for pigs & coyotes out to abt 300yds with some loss of velocity, but the shortened length make it much more manageable in/out of stands.

Took mine deer hunting this year. Just grabbed a box of factory Hornady 87 Vmax 3.1 MIL at 600yds and 108 ELDM 3.3 at 600yds. To date its got 84 rounds through it, but my sister (whos never shot before) had no problem smashing a 6" plate at 600.

18" Preferred Barrel Blank on my TL3 in a Cadex. I could maybe snip another 1/2" off and make it fit, but it carries really really nice.
I'm planning to gas up 115 Dtac and 112 Match Burners for matches next spring/summer.

Factory 108s were just estimated at 2900 so I have no doubt 2950-3000 will can be done with hand loads.

I have a 18" brux 6 creedmoor. Loaded in Peterson brass gives me 2950 with 108 eldm.

I also run a 21.5" brux. Loading 38.6 gr H4350 shooting 105 hybrid at 2830 and it shoots phenomenally.

I actually prefer the 21.5" barrel. It's not bad at all with a suppressor.

You may get more speed with rl26
I get 3212 out of a 20” 243 Ackley with 105’s with a can on.
I’m getting 2689 on a new 16” 6.5 creed with 147’s should speed up once barrel breaks in as well.

I'm using a Manners MCS-CS2 because I wanted a stock that would collapse down far enough to use my Reap 35-2 Thermal. Most other stocks that collapse that far use an AR15 buffer tube interface which I like on my AR's, I hate the look of on a bolt action. If not for thermal use, I've used the KRG Whisky 3 which is fantastic.

Got my barrel back, cut to 19". I have some new bullets from fort Scott munitions I am trying out. 90gr solid coppers. Seem to be working real well. Shot them to 1k at 6k air density.

The comparison photo is a 112gr MB, 90GR FSM, and 115gr DTAC.

Settled at 3094 once the barrel sped up a bit at 41.2gr H4350.

Seems like some solid performance.

I have an 18" Fieldcraft in 6CM, but I have nothing to compare it to, I've never owned a longer one. Mostly shoot Berger 115 VLD H and Barnes 95gr(?) LRX. The most similar thing I own is a .243, but that's only 20" itself, so not much different. :) Doesn't help at all, but my photo host is open... lol

18 inch brux 7.5 twist chambered 6mm creedmoor gives me 2950 with 108 eldm. It is a hot load. Same barrel 87 vmax with a mid load gives 3150. Could easily get 3250-3300 with vmax. Peterson lrp & h4350.

18" 7.5tw, 112 matchburner, 44.5gr rl26, cci450, jumping 40k, shoots great at 2950. Ran up to 45.5gr in load dev without pressure signs other than flat priners, lapua brass is good stuff.

We run a 16.5" 6mm Creed on my son's rifle for crop damage work on several local farms. With a 6" long suppressor it is still handy getting in and out of vehicles at night. We're running 95 TMK and 87 Vmax both around 3000fps and that combo has been extremely effective on chicken and apple thieves alike. Zero'd for 250yd it's PBR is out to 350 without any trouble.

He started using it when he was 6, now he's almost 10 and I had to put it in a new stock for him. His 6yo little brother has a 22 Creed 18" in the old stock and he's working the steel plates and itching to go notch his first tag.

I love these 18" guns super handy. 22 and 6cm here for me. I'd love to have a short 65 that matches the ballistics of the 6cm, but getting a 140 going 2900+ from an 18" without using crack powders is going to require substantial case capacity, like 6.5/7prc or 6.5 LRM. I've built short barrel 65prc, 65 Saum, and 2900-2950 without psi requires 22". From 22-18, I'm betting 150 fps lost. My 20" 65prc with H1000/140hyb in lapua brass doesn't like anything above 2875, clickers and bolt lift. The barrel ran 156s at 3030 prior to cutting it, it lost a TON of speed.

I settled at a little over 2900 with 147s and N565 out of my 20" 6.5 PRC. I got 130s up to 3150 with N560, but was at pressure. Need to re-visit those at a lower node.

My barrel slowed WAY down. Idk, kinda crazy, kinda wondering why, it does shoot great. 2850 VS 2950, really don't mean shit inside 750-800y with a hunting rifle anyways.
