Just ordered one as well. Still waiting on my SH4 (a "first" Arken scope for me, decisions to purchase based on what I read here on SH) so a comparison should be interesting.
Yes, they both have Japanese ED glass. The only differences I'm aware of, is the Ep4 was a 4x scope 4-16x50 & 6-24x50 with a 50mm objective, and did NOT have an illuminated reticle. The EP5 is a 5x scope 5-25x56, and has a 56mm objective, and has illuminated reticle. Other than that, I don't see any differences.
Didnt they say basically they source Japanese made glass lenses but assemble in China?

Oh crap, I forgot the EP4 had less elevation (only 28 MILs) compared to the SH4...Whoops. Good catch.
The SH4 has always had 32 MILs. That's why I overlooked that.

Arken has always been straightforward where their stuff is assembled.
Some of you guys need to get a grip. Where is my 400 dollar scope made and does it have Japanese glass? People buying the cheapest thing they can find is why nothing is made here anymore. You want to save a buck? Don't whine about where its made. You care about where its made? Shut the fuck up and pony up for a scope made in the country of your choice. No I am not saying don't buy an Arken. I'm saying at this price point it is what is as far as all of the above.
I have high hopes for the EP5! Just ordered one. I was very skeptical of Arken at first but I purchased a 4-16 SH4 G2 last week, after going to the range this morning and comparing it to my other scopes I am a believer.
Does it really matter?

It is an OEM plant in China, what more di you really need to know.

If you have a warranty issue, you deal with Arken.
Do you plan on heading to China to watch them build your scope?

I would like to know the factory to see if they also make other manufacturers scopes to understand their quality controls.
I would buy a South Korean made Samsung phone, I would maybe buy a branded Apple chinese made Iphone, I WOULDN'T buy a chinese made TCL phone.
Badger Ordnance sells the M2013. GA Precision sells the Tempest. They both are actually manufactured by Horizon Machine in SD and are basically the same design.

I don't own an Arken. My tastes run Japanese, but I do have a couple of Chinese scopes floating around.
