With the Marlin 45-70’s rolling off the line again, wondering if TBAC will release a compact can for it. A 45 caliber Ultra 5 would be perfect. Thankfully Ruger is threading the stainless versions now. Hated the all black “tacticool” versions from the past.

Me: I'd like a versatile 45 cal can that's appropriate for a lightweight hunting gun that I'm going shoot maybe 50-100 rds/yr through and then drag through the woods.

Silencer industry: here's a do-everything big-bore can that is a foot long, weighs 20oz, is built from cobalt superalloy, and can handle a string of full-auto 338 Lapua Mag.

Awesome to see Marlin back in the game:

I expect they will soon be successful at separating me from some of my money.

Exactly. I just want something to knock the edge off, the smaller and lighter the better. Most of my shooting with this rifle would be about 50 yards offhand in the backyard, because levers are so damn fun, and then an occasional shot from a tree stand. Don’t need a do-everything, full-auto rated can for that.

The Rex MG7-458 is a good option. But yes, a TBAC ..458 can would be sweet for sure.
Just looked that one up. It looks pretty good, but it’s only rated for a 20” minimum barrel length on a 45-70. I would have thought that even hot loads out of a 45-70 would be lower pressure, comparatively speaking.

Edited: I read their website wrong. The 20” barrel is for a sound rating that isn’t yet posted. Looks like there’s no barrel length restriction. Going to check into these guys.
