I quote the bible cautiously. I think the intent is absolutely correct, but Ive seen kids from really good homes where I know they got proper guidance, go off the track. The good side is that if/when they see their error, they have a well developed foundation to return to.

A child is just like a tree or cat, its genetic code has all it needs in order for it to develop into what its telos...what it was designed to be and do...unless acted on by some outside force, be that wind on the tree pr perverts on the child. Sometimes you need more guidance or pruning than others.
