Is 1 in 7 twist too fast ...
... for an AR15 twenty inch barrel using 55 gr bullets? I just replaced a 16" 1:9 barrel with a 20" 1:7 and have a few spam cans of 55 grain lying around. Just wanted to know if the 1:7 twist rate is too fast for these pills. Will 62 gr green tips work with this barrel or should I consider...- foxC

Rem700 AAC-SD loads?
I was finding good results on paper to two hundred yards using 175 SMK's and 43 gr varget going as long as I could using a magazine. Then on a whim I tried a load test starting at 36.3 gr. I saw two inch drop at one hundred yards but got groups of 1/2" MOA. Much better than the .75 to 1"...- foxC

You really don't have to swage as deep as you might think. Set up the swager and do five cases, then go ahead and size/ trim etc and prime them. Adjust the swage as necessary if needed then rinse and repeat. You get the feel for it after a bit and it will come naturally. You don't need to...- foxC

Question on bedding aluminum pillars
Ok I took some pics with the phone cam. For my first attempt at bedding I can live with the results. I put some niks and scratches cleaning up with the rasp and dremel. Does not compare with what I have seen posted here but I think it was worth all the effort put in. Will get it to the range...- foxC

I want to thank all who responded to my questions. I took the advice given and am very pleased with the results. I bedded the action and pillars in one step then the next day bedded the bottom metal. No bubbles or wrinkles, I used devcon and kiwi as the release agent. The tips you guys offered...- foxC

Gunsmithing Surgeo Bottom metal issues
I just did this with a manners stock inletted for the surgeon DBM. I reamed the pillar bore holes in the stock to .625 and used the pillars as supplied from surgeon. Not sure it matters if you use their pillars or not as long as you mill the ones you use to the dimensions called out by surgeon...- foxC

Bought a new Remington 700 and....
Installing a new stock on my AAC-SD and took the action off the Tupperware this morning to find the recoil lug as it should be and symmetrical wear marks at both pillars and rear of the lug. Seems somehow, and I know this sounds crazy, Remington got it right. No regrets here.- foxC
