Lot's of questions on this story...
It appears that deceased was the father of a baby with GF.
My guess, deceased's GF moved back in with her dad and refused to let deceased see his kid. The now dead 22 year old BF started to freak out, because he loved his kid, and wanted to see it. Yes, it happens to fathers.
News hasn't given much information, other than, GF's dad shot through door.

My brother in law was bragging about some of his Tinder escapades after his divorce. I had to break the unfortunate news to him that there is no other “bladder” where women store a liquid that can exit that area at high velocity.
Especially from women in their late 30’s and early 40’s…

It put a bit of a damper on his enthusiasm.
Broke my heart to ruin his pleasant memory…for a moment.

That's a very poor assumption on your part. I read numerous stories about this and didn't see anything about any kids. Even if they had a kid together that doesn't give you the right to break into the house. The two had been broken up for 18 months, that is plenty of time to go to family court and get custody sorted out if there was a kid. The father didn't shoot through the door. He warned the kid he had a gun and waited until the kid forced the door open to fire. The only difference between that video and what would happen at my house is, I use a Remington 870 with 00 buck shot, not a handgun.

Your guess is wrong.

Also has already been before a Grand Jury and charges won't be filed.

To keep it on topic....

Not saying he had a right to break in the door;
  • A Shelby County grand jury voted 8 to 1 not to indict Duckro based on Ohio's 'Stand Your Ground' law
  • joint press release from the county prosecutor and the local sheriff, as cited by Sidney Daily News. Hereford doesn't agree with the grand jury's decision not to charge Mitchell Duckro. "If he entered the house, why did he shoot through the door," Hereford says. link

In some states; If the mother was 'breast feeding'; the father wouldn't get any custody of baby for at least two years. The best that a Father could get would be a few hours supervised, and that's to say, he might have to waited up to 6 months to go to court.

"She can then be heard screaming 'he tried to get to our daughter' and 'he tried to break in'."
"Allyson appears to be smiling in an interview with officers,"
Footage "caught the moment Duckro fired through the front door of his property"
Three holes were found in the decorative glass window in the door

Article states, father shot through the glass on the door. So, it appears door was NOT open when the dad opened fire.

Rayl’s family have launched a ‘Justice for James’ campaign, saying that he was ‘murdered’ by Duckro and that ‘justice will be served’.
His sister, Jessica, also posted online: ‘Mitch shot him in the back and killed him. And we know more than just that Mitchy.
