Best multi-piece cleaning rod?

    Looking for a segmented cleaning rod, 17-20 cal, 40" overall length or more, 5x40 female threads on the business end. Any suggestions?

    Background: I run a Montana X-Treme one-piece 42" in a similar configuration, but I'm traveling for a match and need something way more portable. I've had issues with a tight fit on 22-cal rods in my Vudoo, so I prefer the "guaranteed fit" of a 17 or 20 cal rod. Thanks!

    this one seems like a decent setup at a fair price, will it work for you?

    Good point, truly don't know why I hadn't thought of that. Part of my concern is wanting to have access to it in case I need it during the comp, but it seems likely I could hustle back to the truck.

    honestly I think I'd take my chances with the hardened brass rod against the soft steel in a pinch.
    I say that but mines carbonfiber one piece, mainly because that's what I could find to work with a 30" barrel lol.

    I do not own a segmented cleaning rod.
    I have a couple of .17 cal one piece, I prefer the coated stainless ones... and one piece, always.
    The length was never an issue, just throw it in the truck.
    But it's your desire, so keep looking, something is bound to fit your needs.

    I keep a 3-piece in my range bag for stuck casings, and have on that's assembled for home use. I've filed and polished the joints so no 'out-of-round bits' to catch on crown. Mine measures ca 0.195" and so fits both my 22LR CZs with No probs.     I put together my own kit but it included the military cleaning rod. I thought of using Pro Shot components, but the rod assembly (handle and 5 sections) costs almost as much as a complete kit.

    Man, they don’t make this particular purchase easy! If I ever buy this setup, I think I’m just calling to see if there are yet more undiscovered options.

    They’re pretty helpful over the phone.
