hey Ya All,

Got my ZCO840 8-40x56. Went for bore sighting and the scope doesn’t keep zero. Brought my other ZCO, bore sighted, and all went well. Borrowed a friend’s NF, bore sighted, and everything went smoothly.

I’m probably the first one to encounter this issue with ZCO (it kinda lowered my self-confidence, even though I was testing different scopes and all worked great).

annoying

@koshkin Found you a potential candidate
That's up to the user. I would certainly be happy to look at it, but if he needs resolution fast, ZCO is his best bet. For what it is worth, I have seen quite a few ZCO scopes and I have yet to seen one have zero issues. If his doesn't that's an aberration.

So, when you called ZCO and discussed the problem with them, what did they say ?

The zero is compromised?

Please DM with your contact info, will be happy to contact

You can’t be serious, you rather have “plenty of experienced shooter’s“ diagnose your optic over the internet than working with ZCO directly?
1. I never said I’m not going to work with ZCO directly, I paid plenty of money for the scope, ill defiently will try to work with ZCO

2. getting other people feedback / experience is totally fine, maybe someone else got into the same situation and have some tips I could try over the weekend.

Very serious

If the zero moves, how much does the zero move? We need a number.

Technically, I think, zero is a number. But I could be wrong.
Correct! Thanks Ron, You go to the head of the class. 😀
If something moves, or as the @udishamir said “scope doesn’t keep zero”, then we would be at a number other than zero. Would we not?
In this case we need to know what that number is?
While we are at it, the distance the target was at?
And, the number of shots in the group?

2-3 clicks vertically, 1-2 clicks sporadically to the right or left. I suspect that something might be loose inside and moves when subjected to Newton’s third law.
Not trying to be mean here, but are you capable of consistency to show that kind of error? That’s well within margin of error for bad fundamentals. Big 30 cal magnums can push me around enough to throw a shot .1-.2 off, for instance.

Firstly its totally fine, I might lack the fundamentals, my only question why with different ZCO (same model) I'm getting consistency and accuracy, same story with NightForce (Not a fan). BTW replaced all these scopes in the range and bore sighted them, all on the same chassis.

Eye position, head position, reticle differences, eyepiece focus, parallax could account for errors of that size between systems, not to mention body position and recoil management.

I’m not saying there ISN’T a problem, but shooter error is a factor to consider.

Not to derail, but you’re saying you haven’t seen a single ZCO problem free?

I think he's saying just the opposite. I think he's saying that he hasn't seen problems with any of them.

I don't want to put words in anyone's mouth, so let's see what he comes back with.

FWIW, I have three ZCO's and all of them have been flawless.

I throw hate at a lot of companies that let me down.

ZCO earned its price. Everyone I know drools over mine.
And doggone it--it fn works like a champ. whether its 0 or 100, rain, blazing texas sun, or snow.
Would buy another and recommend
0 doubt if I had issues, I would be taken care of--have had people send their back for "retrofits" (not repairs) and been taken care of.
They'll get you squared. Never ask the howler monkeys unless its a last resort.
And remember, I bitch about AI....

OP - here's the thing. If you're looking for help, ask for the help you want. Your opening post was just a "poor me" complaint. That's what drew the initial heat. Let's say I'm in your boat, and I need some help from the forum. My post looks more like this:

Title: Need some help with a ZCO 8-40 not seeming to hold zero

Need a double check to make sure I'm not missing anything. I think I might have a scope problem that I need to take to ZCO to sort out, but wanted to make sure I'm not wasting their time. I put a new 8-40 on my rifle in a ZCO mount - double checked torque to their specs, etc, and bore-sighted it. Zero seems to wander 2-3 tenths vertically, and 1-2 tents horizontally. I compared it to another ZCO and a Nightforce scope on the same rifle with the same ammo - and while maybe I'm not the best group shooter, neither one followed the same behavior as the 8-40. What else should I double check before calling @gebhardt02 on Monday?

----

See the difference? Yours: whiny complaint. Mine: actual request for assistance.

For your information regarding the ZCO dear, there was a malfunction in the scope which was fixed. Easy to criticize when it’s not your money.

Forums are great platforms to seek for assistance and complain,

If you don’t like the way someone write dont respond.

Dude, @davere did you a solid and reasonably politely pointed out a better and more productive way to couch such questions and requests for help....and you shit on him because....what, you're too smart to learn anything from anybody else?

GTFO

Fanboy faggots have ruined the internet. It doesn’t matter if it’s a cheap product or a top of the line one, if you have a negative experience with something and share it you’re an asshole unless it’s whatever brand any given community loves to hate together. Low IQ as fuck.
My favorite part is when they think everything is “company shaming”. You can't make a comment about your experiences on a public forum because that makes you some kind of fuck. “HaVE YoU cONtAcTed ThEm YEt”
