It depends if you have other things to spend your money on.
The PST Gen2 is a big upgrade over the Gen1, and the glass is reportedly better in the new Viper HD, so yes it’d be a worthy upgrade.
You’ll get nicer glass, wider FOV, 10mil turrets and a better reticle, whether that’s important is up to you.

Exponential... I have been shooting Viper HS-T (same glass as PST Gen1) 6-24x50 VMR-1 scopes for over 10 years... They're now extremely outdated. The new Viper HD is leaps and bounds over the PST Gen1 glass... And the turrets are not even in the same league. The new Viper HD turrets are a massive (and MUCH needed) upgrade over prior generation Vipers.
To put this in plain terms, IF (hypothetically and anecdotally) you say the PST Gen1 is = to a Tasco World Class, then the new Viper HD is = to a Nightforce ATACR. The difference is that vast. They're not even in the same ballpark.

I'm considering one of the FFP 5-25s for a comp rifle I'm trying to keep the weight down on.
No, but I have friends who do, so I’ve spent a lot of time looking through them to know what the glass is like, and what it compares to. The Viper HD is definitely a step up over the PST G2. Not as big a jump as going from a G1 to the HD, But still a noticeable improvement.
