Looking to get a new scope for a 1K trainer 223 Wylde bolt. Will be used for varmints, coyotes, matches, and steel out to 1K. I have it narrowed down to 3 scopes now. Ultimately looking for the best glass and repeatable turrets.

Nightforce NX8 4-32x MOAR reticle
Leupold MK5 7-35x PR2- MOA reticle
Zeiss LRP S3 6-36x ZF-MOAI reticle

Of the 3 reticles, the NF MOAR is my least favorite by far. Just never have been a huge fan of it. My favorite is probably the Leupold PR2-MOA, followed closely by the Zeiss ZF-MOA. With that said, what's everyone's thoughts and opinions on these 3 scopes?

I will preface my comment by saying all my NF have either been Competition or ATCAR series. I also have never owned Zeiss, but heard good things about them. I like the MK 5s that I have shot and feel comfortable with them.

Of those 3... Get the Zeiss. I have an S3 6-36x MRAD version. Had it for about 1.5 years now. Been a great scope. The glass is excellent.

Another option to look into that's in the same price range is the Vortex Razor Gen3 6-36x56...

Also, if you're not already invested heavily in MOA scopes, I'd strongly consider swapping over to MRAD.

I think you picked three winners. For varmit hunting, you do not world class glass, but you picked some good ones. While we are very strong NF fans, the other two options have a slight edge in glass, but I would not pick a varmit scope on glass. MOSTLY, YOU HAVE TO LOVE THE RETICLE. You are not going to notice the nuances of the glass for your application, but you will have to live behind the reticle.

Our customers love the PR2 on the Leupold. Very versatile. Plus, with Leupold, you are not paying more for illumination, so that might be an edge.

I like picking between 3 choices. That is what I call the "Trader Joe's" method. You never find more than 3 choices at Trader Joes. Makes it easier to make a choice. One member threw that off by offering the Vortex. Now, I am going to do in another way. Help us get back to 3 choices. . I would question your choice of magnification. For varmit hunting, we find that mid-magnification, the 4-16x range is just fine, and offers a lighter weight and lower price point. We have shooters reaching out beyond 1,200 yards with the 7-35x (ish) variety. It is your selection, but I might revisit that.

I'm a big fan of the gen 3 xr in my tt525p. it has basically the best glass I ever looked through, nice turrets too just a bit pricey.
there are soo many excellent scope options out there nowadays, Vortex would be high on my list, alongside nf.
