Vudoo Gun Works V-22 Rimfire Bolt Action

Years ago (2017), when the Gen 1 repeaters had been out for several months, there were some ejection issues, and my early rifle started having them after I'd put around 500rds through it. I called VGW, and Paul answered the phone. He told me that they'd done some minor re-shaping of the extractor & pusher, and IIRC, had also shortened the plunger springs and put more of a radius on the plungers. He offered to fix my problem by having me send the bolt to them, but after he'd explained the modifications they'd done, and since I'd worked over the extractor & pushers on a couple of my repeater converted 40X rifles, and after he'd texted me a video showing the modified parts, I told him I felt I could accomplish the job myself. He sent me a little zip-loc baggie with new parts, and I had them swapped into my bolt in probably less than 20min. Haven't had a single issue since with that rifle. I thought that VGW had a similar video listed on their website, but it's been so long since I looked, it might not be there anymore. But I would be surprised if there wasn't a good video on you tube that shows how to deal with what you're experiencing...

@Mark_Dorman Talk to me goose...are these going to change the world....serious question...I am going to investigate now.

I think these are going to completely eliminate the common rimlock and feeding issues we've all experienced. I know most of us have learned to be careful while loading to avoid it, but it's always at the back of my mind and a common complaint. @Thesepaperwings should have more details for us, but I think they'll be a huge hit in the Vudoo community.

What's everybody want to know? It's solid billet, will come anodized black but I'm digging the raw aluminum for now lol. 15 round capacity, slant channel, the latch is adjustable up and down as well as in and out. Plus....... Can be used as a brick

Awesome! Pretty good considering no tuning. I haven't put my tuner on, actually had to take off the ATS so my 20" would fit into the Vision Pro I just picked up from GCP. If I decide to add a tuner back in, will have to use the Cortina adapter. One day out with CX and turned 2 groups, 1" and 1.25, both 10 round groups at 100.
I did not omit 1-4 which were with clean barrel, ES/SD would be different, I guess I can keep the record but omit those?

Here is my Vudoo bitch... I got the Apparition 360 with 22in MTU barrel MPA chassis and was very happy with how it shot until I did a custom CZ457 build. Here a list of how it was built. CZ 457 MTR action, 22in straight .900 22 in Lilja barrel, Vision, Chassis ,AREA 419 30 MOA top rail ,Pete's pillars firing pin and cocking indicator. I then tested 5 targets using the same ammo and then 10 targets using the ammo that worked best in each rifle. The CZ won 7 of 10 and 4 of 5 and the ones it lost were much closer the the margin the Vudoo lost by on the targets and no feeding issues with the CZ. I sold the Vudoo to a guy who loves it all good.
My bitch is I really I wanted to order a V22 single shot for benchrest compaction but was told they will now charge 5% custom build fee and will not use customer supplied barrel. I have a new blank but they won't use it. So I am moving on the a 2500X custom build.
I will say Vudoo quality was very good function was good other than some mag feed issues. Who know maybe the Vudoo barrel I had was just average and the Lilja was exceptional??

The 1st custom 22RF rifle I built for myself was on a Stiller 2500XR repeater action in 2016, before Vudoo came on the market. I had no issues with that action, aside from how clunky changing magazines was, due to the narrow mag chute being up inside the stock and hard to hit in a hurry compared to the V22 mags I was using in converted 40X repeaters. I wound up selling the 2500XR build to a friend who shot with the club. Also sold one of my 40X repeater conversions to finance the purchase of my 1st V22 repeater action, and now own three Gen 1 & one Three-60 repeaters. Obviously I'm a Vudoo fanboy, and make no bones about it. I bought a Rim-X action out of curiosity, and currently have a GM bbl on it that Mike Manzella did for me with Padom's Eachus chamber - but that rifle's going up for sale. I have no complaints with it since I got that bbl from Mike, but simply don't shoot it much, as I'm more than happy with m Vudoo rifles.

When I decided to build a single shot rifle for 22RF BR & F-class, I went with a RBRP V22S action and did a Shilen ratchet in R5 contour for it, putting it into a McMillan Kestros stock. After building myself 3 rifles on the V22S action, obviously I'm pretty pleased with the Vudoo single shot actions. I've worked with the crescent & chisel shaped firing pins & the selection of striker springs that came with the earlier actions, as well as the adjustable striker depth, and am more than satisfied with where I'm at with ignition. Based on all the complaints about FTF with the single shot actions, it's pretty obvious that having all the options that Mike designed into the single shot's ignition system confused a lot of the early buyers. I had very few FTF issues with the chisel shaped firing pin, so I understand why VGW went away from the crescent pins. But I'm still using the last version of the crescent pins in my actions, and see no reason to change over to the chisel that came with the 3rd action. I'm not particularly interested in buying a Stiller single shot action just to compare to the V22S actions - if I felt I was giving away accuracy potential by staying with the Vudoo actions, I would try the Stiller. But that's not the case, so...

I'm curious, and this is a serious question: with four Vudoos, how do you use them? What purpose does each one meet?

I ask because I have a gen-1 V22, bought in 2019. I shoot several PRS/NRL22 and several little club gallery-style matches each year with it and have come to totally trust it. Two winters ago, I built a RimX. Getting it to shoot as it should was a journey recounted elsewhere here, but I got there. I used it in the gallery-style match series last summer and did well with it.

But I just don't have the same affection/attraction/whatever toward it as the Vudoo. I keep thinking I want to sell it as it pretty much lives in the safe and it seems silly to have an expensive rifle and optic sitting there waiting for the Vudoo to break or something.

So, having read your comments in this thread over the years, it would be interesting to me to know how you (and maybe others who own multiple .22s) use them.

Thanks!

And just what is Your Complaint?

If its sales outside of the PX…As I read the post, he said he was thinking about selling. He did not say it was for sale, he did not quote a price or any other particulars, necessary to complete a sale.

Thanks, DED, yes, I'm thinking about selling - just like Flatland mentioned.

Gotta love a newbie whose 3rd post here tries to spank somebody... more likely HE didn't read the rules, posted something (look at his post history), got that response, and wants company. Hey @Rob01, paddle me if you need to...

O, and by the way ...2243, use the "Report" button in the lower left of any post to flag it to mods' attention.

Heh. Full disclosure: I've been "thinking" about selling that rifle most of this year, and Rob has given me shit because I never seem to get around to actually posting it. Maybe I fear feeling poor if I only have one .22.....

Well, yes those privates go off half cocked all the time. I will say this, at least the fellow knows where the rules are. Most never pay the slightest heed.

Only one .22. You know the old saying, beware of a man who only owns one rifle. Nope, I never heard it either. I’ve always lived with the saying, if you only have one of something, it will run away, looking for a buddy. (As in gets lost) And, the other side of the coin. If you ever want to find something that is lost, buy its replacement. True story, happened to me when I lost a carpenters roofing square.

Good luck in what ever direction you head out.

First, you are thinking of selling the RimX and not the Vudoo to clarify for the person who posted about wanting to buy it.

Second, why do you guys think that usmc2243 is "The Management"? You saw the post he posted in your emails and it was not that. That was a warning for him. Not him posting.

I shouldn't have dragged you into this silliness.

I certainly didn't think he's "management" - look at post #10,686 and I did say that post was probably a warning to him and he tried to lay it on me.

Now back to discussion of the relevant topic.

DFH - I built my 1st V22 repeater after selling a CMP 40X that I'd had jelrod convert into a repeater, and then barreled it myself with a Benchmark. Nothing wrong with that 40X, just knew that I wasn't going to shoot it much once I got the V22 finished...and I still had another jelrod-converted CMP 40XB with a Krieger bbl that I'd done. Once a few of my shooting friends had been exposed to my new V22 repeater, I had requests to built them V22s. But at the time, VGW had extended the offer to give me distributor pricing on actions, bbl'd actions, and complete rifles, if I bought at least three bbl'd actions at a time. There was no way I was going to be able to do a barrel job for a V22 action for the same price as what they were willing to sell them to me for, so I ordered 3 bbl'd actions in order to get a rifle built for the 1st of these guys. I wound up keeping both of the extra bbl'd actions, building a light weight sporter on one, and setting up the 2nd as a spare heavier comp rifle for myself, which has seen more use as a loaner at PRS-type matches than anything else. I carry the light sporter in my truck on a daily basis. I shoot either the original Gen 1 V22 repeater or the Three-60 in matches - just depends on which one I'd rather shoot on any given day. That's why the Rim-X just sits in its case, as does the spare Gen 1 repeater. With two really good repeaters - the original Gen 1 & the Three-60 - I really ought to sell the 2nd Gen 1, which has a 22" Bartlein Kukri bbl, along with the Rim-X. Nothing wrong with either, it's just a little crazy to have that much $$$ tied up in two fine rifles that I don't shoot. This isn't an offer to sell anything - but I do need to get off my butt and list them on at least a couple of shooting sites.

Cool. I thought about converting my uber-heavy Rim-X (22" Heavy Varmint contour Shilen in MDT ACC, gen-3 Razor optic) to a sporter... the little monthly gallery-style match has a sporter division... but reality is that one use case doesn't justify the expense.

I think having a spare match rifle is the main reason I hang onto the Rim-X... plus, as now chambered, my Rim-X will digest CCI SV (of which I bough a case cheap prepandemic) that predictably chokes the Vudoo. The CCI ammo is accurate enough for positional practice on 1.25" swinger at 100.

Interesting you mention jelrod. One thing he told me that I find useful: No matter which barrel brand, no matter who chambered it, no matter what chamber, no matter what ammo - an inch at 100 is the best accuracy a .22LR can deliver with consistency. Coming from a guy nationally known for top-shelf barrel work, that's the accuracy benchmark I look for.

Good day, sir; thanks for response.

I have a newb question. How would you clean a fresh new out of the box Vudoo barreled action before shooting it for the first time ? Anything special or just a couple of dry patches to make sure there's no debris inside ?

I plan to use C4 as necessary down the line and maybe a bit of oil down the bore for long term storage.

Anyone using center x with a vudoo 360 having issues of unfired rounds not extracting?

~1400 rounds through the barrel. No issues before the last few matches. No borescope, I’d drive myself nuts with it but I’m VERY diligent with cleaning the chamber/letting it soak with boretech carbon remover.

Anyone had it develop? Firing the round it extracts. Only center x fed. No other ammo.
