Accessories MULTI-SPECTRUM CAMO NET (SAAB BARRACUDA)

The supplier should ship tomorrow. Larger sizes will be available, but limited. I’ll have enough for everybody and more. Thermals will be here on FRI, so stand by for pictures of the thermals.
As far as other patterns, for now the only ones available are the woodland camo ones. He said he’ll try to get his hands on other patterns but can’t promise anything as these only come out in the civilian market once in a blue moon as contract overruns. The military just shreds them to pieces and destroys them because of the thermal properties. The only way to have other colors for now will be adding burlap to it.

The balaclava is regular wool and is the same woodland camo. The ir illuminator is on on the nods. I guess this will show the NIR reflective properties best.
Without the ir you can see the pattern, but as soon as you introduce illumination, it turns into a whitish glowing bulb, looks great when there’s a white wall behind you, not so good in nature though.

Ok gents. I’ve got the thermals from @TheGerman today and conducted some testing.
Time of testing: 22:00
Ambient Temp: 76’F
Weather: Clear
Environment: desert bush
Placement: the netting was hung from 2 bushes with a person behind it.
Below I’ve posted some pictured. Those were taken using an AN/PAS-23 and my iphone behind the screen from 2 different angles, so the capabilities of the thermal unit are pretty high up there.
A word about the limitations I was talking about in the earlier post. Understanding what this was made for, it does the job of concealing one from thermal detection, however the netting has to be used in the way it was designed. I have noticed that the netting works better and better the further the observation point is, so basically pretty much at point blank range (10-15m and in) you will be detected if you have only one layer of netting between yourself and the observer. Unfortunately this pretty much goes into the regular physics, the closer the net is to the observation device the more can be seen through, just like with a scope and a sniper veil. By the same reason if your scope is a few meters behind the net you will be able to see and aim. However, what I found was, the further you get from the netting the more effectively it starts concealing the heat signature. At 40-50 meters I was unable to make up the person behind the netting. In the upper corner of the pictures you will see the ranges the pas-23 was from the netting. The person behind the netting was sitting about a foot away from the netting. The arrows will point out to the parts of the body concealed by the net marked “NET” and the part not shielded marked “NO NET”.
Once we’ve got there, we pulled out the netting and started the testing, so one thing you’ll notice is in some pictures the netting is more noticeable and in some - less. That is because it takes About 5-6 minutes for the netting to fully match the surrounding temperature. And this is the fact that will serve my next point. Because of the design of the netting to adjust to the temperature of the surroundings, it won’t be really effective to be worn on body unless there is an additional shielding layer between the wearers body and the netting itself. Some thicker ghillies will do the job, however my honest opinion is it would be better off used as a hide concealment.
One thing I found out for closer ranges (10m and in) is that folding the netting in half really cut down on the thermal signature.
I’ve also taken a few pictures with a PVS-14 (L3 gen3 advanced definition autogated tube w/o manual gain) from different ranges. One thing to keep in mind with the night vision is that the pictures were taken inthe deser environment of Las Vegas, so the color and contrast of the vegetation in the area we were testing was pretty different from the color of the netting.
IN CONCLUSION: Is it the much sought after Harry Potter cloak:D? NO. Will it serve it’s purpose of concealing you from different types of observation devices in adequate ranges if using correctly? Absolutely. This is the reason I did not want to accept any money or make any deals before the full testing, because when I’ve heard about those a few years ago, I myself thought I’ll be able to put it over walk up to the VA governor and kick him in the ass without him ever knowing what hit him, however a man dreams and God loughs: reality puts it’s correctives in.
I talked to a person who’s unit is using these and his advice was: as long as the minimum distances are maintained between the net and the enemy, it’s very effective. Think it’ll make you transparent from any distance, u’ll meet Jesus before time. Their minimum distance per SOP is 50 meters but he said they push it to 25 with no significant problems. I showed him a pic of the netting and he said those are cut from the command post system.
Now, as for shipping, I’ve talked to the supplier and he can ship it tomorrow, so if you’re interested, you can PM me with how many you want and I’ll right it down and ship as soon as I receive the shipment.
Please let me know if there’s anything else you want me to test or you have any other questions. Thank you all guys.
Gas
Special thanks to @TheGerman for lending me the PAS-23 and letting us get all the info on the performance.
Out!

Hey gents, sorry, the size didn’t change it’s 6x3’. I’ve accidentally put 6x9 in one of the posts, have already corrected it. Sorry for the confusion, drain bamage.

SITREP:
All the netting is on the way. I’m expecting the delivery on Tuesday.
There has been a mistake on the pricing. I did the recount and the prices for the 6x3 pieces will be a little less than previously mentioned. Also I should be able to drive it down for those of you who wanted multiple pieces, so I’ll update the final pricing a little later when I’m sure what it is.

Update: Got the stuff. All pm have been responded to, the ones payed for are all shipped. New prices are:
$70 for the 6'x3' strips
$430 for the large diamond shaped ones (corner to corner diagonally 16'x26')
$750 for the large hexagon shaped ones (corner to corner diagonally 26'x26')
All shipped.
PM me if you're still interested and I'll send over my payment info. I would prefer zelle or Venmo but PP is ok too.
Thank you.

I just received my shipment from Gas. For those that didn't pay close attention to the detailed pictures. This stuff has a tight mesh backing, which will make it much easier to deploy, and also take down as it won't easily snag on things. The traditional camo netting which has a fishnet type backing is a pain in the ass to deploy, and even worse to remove because it snags on anything and everything.

The mesh backing will also work as insect screen, blocking flies, maybe even mosquitos, but it won't be any protection from gnats.

Picked up mine from Gas over the weekend. It’s really easy to work with and packs away easily in my Eberlestock....Netting/mesh is tight like @Alpine 338 has said. I’m really happy with it and will be picking up another, larger one soon.

Gents, as far as the colors go, I found only one supplier so far that has the desert pattern, but I wouldn’t buy it. The price is ridiculous. Over $2200 for the large system. And I’m not even sure if by large they mean diamond or the hexagon. I asked my original supplier to keep an eye out for other patterns, so as soon as something comes up he’ll let me know first.

Any way you would / could do a second run? I'd be in for 2 or 3. Maybe more if I get some buddies interested who aren't on here. Thanks
Right now I don’t have any really. Just kept a couple for myself sorry. I will post it if the contractor has another run but honestly it’s not as common as I would want it to be.

I know this is an old post but is there anyway to order one of these Saab Barricuda ULCAS sheets? I’m very interested if anyone has any available. I’ve been looking online and found one retailer but they look like they aren’t selling 1 unit orders.
