I’m looking at Grand Seiko for my next piece. I would like to find a NOS/LNIB SBGN003, but I am not opposed to the SBGN027 either! Looks like a trip to the Grand Seiko shop in Miami is in order!

I had a phantom Tactical and I still miss that watch. Only watch I have ever sold that I regret. Cool watches even if the owner is a punk and the CS sucksAny Kobold folks in here? I know the company has been a nightmare… but the watches are pretty cool!

I really like my SAR. The tritium in the hands and markers is fantastic.I just ordered a marathon gsar in PVD black to add to the stable. Anyone have any experience with them.
The Dweller is a no go. The Pelagos is an easy purchase. The Sub would be double but I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around it being 2x the cost of the Pelagos. I like power reserve and in house movement of the Pelagos. But the knurling and clicks on the bezel don’t feel nearly as refined as on the Sub.
I like the new tech in the Pelagos a lot. Pretty much everything about it is very nice for the price. But there’s just something about the fit and finish of the sub that I can’t ignore. Tough call for me.
and I do actually dive. But my Perdix dive computer takes care of all those needs.
How does the Lume compare between your Pelagos and Sub?
I'm assuming that you're talking about Rolex ADs? Yes they do, now. Might as well buy new. They're just cashing in on what the gray market folks have been, not cheap, for now.Used is something I haven’t considered. Because I’m not knowledgeable enough on the model numbers or cases to determine what is authentic vs fake. Do ADs even sell used models?
Alternative to a 5 digit Sub would be to consider any Rolex Black Bay 58. They wear exactly like ye olde 5 digits, but modern bracelets and movements.View attachment 8469294View attachment 8469295
Consider the option of a good used 5 digit. Swiss only dial 14060 is possibly the best design of all time.
Which gshock?View attachment 8469542
My one and only nice watch, just replaced a G Shock that just quit on me
What is the site?Ran across a site that does custom modded Seikos last night. I think one if these is in my future.

1952 (I think) Rolex Oysterdate Precision 6266 I sent to Switzerland with basically a blank check to get working again. It looses a few hours a day unfortunately. Family heirloom so wanted to repair it. Unfortunately they sent it back to my dealer and said there was nothing they could do. Hard to believe but whatever.

Send it to this guy. Wild shot but maybe it will work out.

Damn! Definitely not a POW in a Stalag as far as my FIL knows.Probably similiar to watches that POWs could buy while inside a stalag.
Geneva salesmen would show up and take orders with sales completed when they were released and got backpay.
Switzerland was neutral and capitalist.

Thanks for posting that…immensely satisfying to watch.
Heh, pun not intended, but now I’m sitting here chuckling at myself. Good God, I’m such a dork.
OT: getting some weird “Everything must go!” emails from Crown and Caliber lately, and when I browse their store, the selection is really limited. Are they going out of business?
I’m sort of in the market for the matching Tag Link Calibre 36 with the black face, to match mine that has the white face. It’s not my most expensive watch, but I absolutely love how that Link band feels vs. other stainless steel bands. I also like the fact that it has the Zenith El Primero movement…something that sets it apart from my other “nice” watches.
I’m very leery of eBay or other sites, but Crown and Caliber always seemed gtg…any other reputable sites I should consider? Edit: I’ve actually used Chrono24 once, but any others? They seem to primarily carry newer watches, and the one I’m looking for is 20 years old now.

Yup, and their doctrine is to restore to ‘as new’ condition, (If they have parts) which is an absolutely terrible idea for a vintage piece! There are some very talented independent watchmakers out there, good advice to take a personal recommendation.Rolex doesn’t touch old stuff.
If you don’t get a response from Wristwatch revival let me know. I have a guy out in Oregon who is the best with these early watches. Has done a number of prewar and wartime Rolexes for me.
Pm me and I’ll introduce you guys via e-mail. Beautiful watch!!! Heirloom indeed!!!
Cheers! Sirhr

I used Terry to service my Speedy and Pam last summer and he was phenomenal to work with. Great communication, quick turn around (for a service), easy instructions. The hardest part was finding the stupid tape to send them registered mail.Rolex doesn’t touch old stuff.
