Hi All

To preface - I'm fairly new to reloading, and have so far successfully reloaded for my .38 Lever Action only.

I am looking to start reloading for my Tikka T3x Tac A1, 24 inch Barrel.

The components I have so far are:
- Powder: Vihtavuori N555
- Bullet Heads: Hornady 140gr ELD-M
- Cases: Lapua SRP
- Primers: ???
- Dies: ???

Does anyone have load data for this Bullet/Powder combo, as well as recommendations for Primers and Dies?
I'm looking for accuracy as best as possible, as far out to 1000 yards and beyond.
I've been unable to find anything for the Hornady 140gr ELD-M, however data for the 147gr is available.
Happy to swap out the Bullet heads if need be (Berger 140gr?) but will definitely want to be using up the 200 that I already have!

Any and all advice/tips will be welcome.

Thanks

With two members posting the same link to VVN's 6.5 data you should have something to ponder on.
Hi Mate

Thanks for getting back to me.

I do already have sight of the VV Load Data page, however there was nothing for the Hornady 140gr ELD-M specifically.
I was wondering if anyone had specific loads of their own that I could utilise alongside the VV published data for Berger 140gr & Hornady 147gr 147gr ELD-M to ascertain a baseline to work up from and towards.

Do let me know how you get on with the N555 though!

Thanks

You can also go thorough this sticky post just for the 6.5 creed. Every rifle is different, start lower and work up. You can safely start at 41 and work up.

Had some issues with my “ pro”chronograph (maybe pro like 30 years ago)

had two rounds registered

Very accurate in my gun
43 grains 140 match Barns match burners freedom pills

Starline brass .20 off the lands

This was not pushing the load or “hot” by any means
One could go much hotter and most do
As apparently 2800 fps is what most easily attained with a24inch custom gun. I have yet to start to really run it hot, yet EVERY ONE runs there 6.5 cm OVER BOOK POWDER CHARGES.

This charge IS at or above max depending on what ingredients your using in you spells…Make sure you realize I am not suggesting use use this load in your gun and expect not to die

FOLLOW THE MANUAL. Get an idea of approx max and load .. use the primers you have and
Make sure you have all the same cases do not mix brands and expect good groups

There are great powders out there other than the “other” powders so use the VV n555 and start loading some rounds

It works great in the Creedmoor cases.

N555 is a really nice powder .. The kernels are nice and small=meters really well and repeatable accuracy and goes fast.

If it would have been in stock locally, I would’ve picked up more. I currently only have 1&1/2 pounds of it left …instead because it was in stock and it was on sale picked up H4350. I have yet to ever reload with it though as I have been using IMR 4350 now and SW4350 prior to that, as it was all I could get 2 years ago… Imr has risen 150$ per 8lb jug since then.

I still am very surprised to see some of the speeds guys are getting there 140 grain pills in 6.5 Creedmoor’s up to though…

There seems to be a large spread of those that say they’r w/in max pressure and shooting well over 2800 FPS yet most of my rifles that have tried about 2650 shooting max loads of published information ??
