That’s explains it. I bought mine from Armorwerx on Amazon. I knew fully it was a clone and not authentic. I just didn’t know what I was looking for at the time of purchase and didn’t pay attention to the locking mechanism.

I just ordered the RH25 + AC52 and AC36 mounts bundle from Goblin Tactical. Should be in tomorrow - will post pics.
This will get mostly used as a handheld paired with my current WP RNVG. The plan is to run it on my 11.5" in front of a T2 on a 1.93 Scalarworks mount and G33 magnifier when in clip on mode.

The good news is that I have all the necessary paperwork in place and will be working with a professional shipper next week to finally get this stuff into the US.

So, I’m looking into a first thermal for some coyote hunting in my area. Seems a RH25 in front of an LVPO is a good setup. I’ve been reading the forums and researching. Anyone want to talk me out of this and have a better setup for walking about and transitioning to weapon? Seems I would need the RH25, the pic-rail, and a mount for my helmet.
I have gone down this path and don’t recommend it. Is it doable? Sure. But you are WAY better off getting a cheap scanner and a cheap weapon mounted thermal rather than use one unit for both.
I’d rather buy a used Iray FH35R for a scanner and then a Rix S3 for a weapon mounted thermal.
If you don't care about helmet mounting and therefore don't want/need a Wilcox dovetail type mount, you could try this:

Update: I checked with the manufacturer and those two german parts are in fact compatible, but it requires that you remove a little material from the QD mount.
I'll just get the QD mount for now since I don't have a helmet.

Interesting thing on that: On the previous models, only the more expensive 640 resolution RH25 had a mode for clip-on. It wasn't offered in the less-expensive 384 resolution RL25. But now both the RH25V2 and RL25V2 will have the clip-on function available. iRay decided the upgraded display and eyepiece give enough of a performance bump to allow even the lower-resolution sensor to perform well enough to be used for front-of-scope magnification. Maybe people will buy the 384 now, but... I'd still go 640 for the better video output, etc.

The USB-C on my RH25v2 has a looser connection than the old Fischer, yeah, but on the plus side, you can use the USB-C to power the optic with an external battery pack if you want.
That is solidly posibble with the RH25. These cables have a Fischer into the RH25 and a USB for the external battery. Very solid setup. The problem with the USB-C connecting into any thermal device is that they are easily disconnected.

Never tried to charge my V1 RH25 with that three-way cable that shipped with the RH25... kind of octopus with all the extra cords dangling off vs. a lightweight and trim 1' long USB-C. So the Focal Plane Array on the RH25 V2 pixel count has been reduced. It is a 640 H x 480 V whereas the original version is a 640 H x 512 V.
The FOV is specified to be 17.5 H x 13.1 V for both of these units. So the V2 is sampling 1 pixel = 2.96 Square Inches at 100 yards and the original is sampling 1 pixel = 2.77 Square Inches at 100 yards.
But the V2 has better Thermal Sensitivity. Will be interesting to see how this all shakes out in actual field performance.

Correct. They wanted it to remain 100% compatible with existing solutions. Same two-hole setup on the bottom to fit old pictail and other solutions.
Looks like they also got rid of the lanyard point that the V1 had. Man that sucks. All thermal and NV devices should come with a discrete lanyard point.

It comes with a lanyard in the hard case. Hang on, I’m out looking at coyotes with it (lanyard less!) but when I get back in I’ll see where it attaches.
My theory is that later V1s have the same sensor as the new V2. I called then the V 1.5's because the firmware was updated and the image was significantly better/more sensitive than the first release units (enough so that the hardware had to be changed as well). I don't think these are going to be upgrades to the later produced V1's. The USB C is a downgrade in durability compared to the Fischer port.
For reference to the new units, here's a picture from a later RH 25 V1 (the one with upgraded firmware and potentially sensor). The image from the later V1s kept up with the voodoo S.

I told guys that we're existed about these that they more than likely aren't going to be better. If they upgraded the core to a 1280 then I would have been more excited@jstokes1 I think you hit the nail squarely on the head.
If using this primarily as a clip on in front of a 1-8 optic (sometimes a 2-10) and I can live with the narrower FOV of the 384 unit, any reason not to go with the RL25? Seems like they rate both units to a similar magnification level and the same objective size would make that seem reasonable (albeit with a narrower FOV, still 10.5 deg)
I'd bet they just didn't advertise the vertical FOV correctly. They lie on a lot of their stats. A rix stride st6 (iray product) supposedly has a 2000yd detection range, but their RH25v2 only shows 1200yds. I'm hoping it's actually a sensor upgrade and <15mk, but I have doubts.
They also are tricky with marketing too. The v1 used about 80% of the screen because it was a circle. The V2 now has a 80% LARGER viewing area! Even though the v1 had the 640x512 resolution, it didn't even use it. It looks like the v2 actually will.
Voodoo vs iRay - how much do you have to tweak settings to get a great image? I don't know if I've made any changes to my NOX18 in a long time after setting it once. I've run it fairly often over the last couple years and made minimal changes (I hear this is common in BAE cores)

Yep, that's my review. Honestly one of the best NV/thermal accessory purchases I've made.
One of my biggest disappointments with the RH25v1 was how iRay really never bothered to improve the firmware in terms of usability. Even a couple of small tweaks like saving offsets for helmet mode and multiple weapons would have made a large difference. Hopefully the v2 resolves those issues.
would love to see comparisons of the v1 and v2 image. I’m currently running two v1s for coyote hunting.
