No but I see fire cracking for 5 inches past the throat. Worst ever seen!
Needs new serving for sure, but probably yes. I cant really tell if the orange/green is torn up or just the serving. If there is orange/green damage, id be replacing the cables and string. If its just the serving you can re-serve. Id also be looking as to why if you dont know what happened. Could be a burr in the channel on the cam from bumping it on shit.
I still run my original string on my 2007 Hoyt. I wax it every year before putting it away. Still looks great

That loop was slightly frayed and I put off replacing it because it wasn’t to bad. I was practicing the night before season when it frayed enough break. Sending my arrow into the neighbors yard and rendering the bow useless for hunting the next morning.

Shot great about 14 years ago the last time I messed with it. It's been in box in the top of the closet since I got my dog that dies last summer. I was just thinking about ordering a cheap press and new string and cable set up. I gots ta pump up dem bow kill numbers. It's in the hundreds but mostly fish with my recurve.

Reqdjusring the sights is what I wanted avoid. Lol. I have n3ver done it before. I bought it used and it was already tuned and sighted in for me.
I would be most curious about what is damaging the serving and string in that spot.
Maybe make sure its not contacting the cam, some designs are prone to cam lean especially with worn strings or the yokes being out of tune.

Even if the string looks ok, I’d replace it and cables. At 14 years old, it’s worth the $100 a shop will charge to not be holding an inevitable explosive when that string pops and parts go flying.
If you continue not shooting a ton, and keep the string/cables waxed, it will easily last another 14 years without issue. Worth $7.14/year in my opinion.

I could see rerapping readjusting what ever and making sure the problem doesn't persist before going to the trouble to restring it. I am not sure how to adjust yolks. The springs look new besides that spot. If I call correctly the guy just had new strings and cables put on before I bought it. I probably sent less than 1000 arrows with it.
There is going to be some mis alignment there as the bus cables are going to run through the guide that pulls them to the side a bit. Serving dried and broke down. It's not worth reserving a string that old. 14 years replace them before they decide to randomly come apart. I had my 2000 vintage Hoyt XT2000 blow up hanging on the wall in the shop a few months back. I don't run hunting bow strings over 3 years. Target bow strings get replaced after 20k arrows which is typically a year for us.
It seems like it's pretty common on bear solocam bows. Specifically right there where it bends the string to the sharpest angle around the cam.
I don't know how hard it is. It's impossible until I have a press and strings and cables though.
Replace it, it’s not worth risking injury for $50. If it’s that old and hasn’t been maintained the serving is the least of my worries.
Yes replace it, if it snaps there is a good chance it will damage the cams and limbs, not to mention you, at that point you will have half the price of a new bow when you replace all the damage. If you have to re sight it in, remember you chase your arrow, if it shoots high move your sight up etc.....
On the other hand.... last year I decided to start shooting a bow again. Found the string let go just sitting in the case at some point. Looking into getting it restrung, it would have cost more than half what I paid for the bow. lol Didn't seem like a wise investment for a very outdated model. Instead I just bought a new one.
You gotta just break down and get it re strung. Sighting it back in takes less than an hour. Now that archery season is over in CO you'll probably find that most archery shops are dead. If you walk in and nobody is there the guy is likely to string it for free if you buy strings there. Then he's likley to spend an hour with you dialing it in if he's bored. It all depends on his mood and workload when you walk in. If he sees you as a future customer, he's real likely to spend the time. If he does do you a solid, buy your shit there.
We have a local archery shop that sits between Tampa and Brandon. Big place, lots of equipment and two different ranges. Really nice looking place.

It's easy. Press required, measure you axle to axle before you start Press down just far enough to get the string and cables off. New string and cables will be optimally twisted. So don't add or take out twists while your changing them.
Being the first time doing it, one at a time to make sure they are routed the same.
After they are swapped, I put it in a vise, get the riser straight up and down. Make sure the rest is at the correct height. Arrow should be center with the hole that the rest is mounted in. ( Berger hole).
Put an arrow in and level it, you can tie your dloop in there with the nock as your reference point.
Measure your axle to axle again with new string. If it's the same and what the manual states it should be in time. There are spots on the cam or cams that touch the bus cables at full draw. They need to touch at the same time at full draw.
If it's not in time the cables will need a twist added or taken out to get it in time.
Once it's in time, paper tune.
Get it sighted in
Crank 30-40 or so arrows through it. Check timing and axle to axle again.
Many say 100 arrows for strings to fully settle. The people I get strings from with Bloodline 99 string they are settled in within 20 shots.
Pretty sure thats the majority of shops these days. Likely it isn't worth the liability with what they would make above an ordered string with everyone so sue happy.
There are tons of string builders that will build the strings for it. If they can find the data they can build them or copy what's on the bow. Lots of shops in Texas build there own strings also for a fast turn around when needed. I have a list of good string builders if you need it. We are using Apollo bow strings out of Glen Rose Texas. He can build whatever is needed as long as he has the old string or the data to build it.
Ya, 300 dollar bow 100 dollar string 50 dollar press. It woukd be about as easy to close it up, put it in the closet and forget about it for another decade or two.

Nowadays, insurance has way too much say so in the daily operations of most businesses.
Bowstrings are not a 15 minute build. Good stable strings need to be built and then stretched at 200+ lbs for at least 24 hours.

Go find a pro shop that can teach you. It's not hard, but it'll be easier to shoot if you actually have it tuned to you. Draw length is super important, it should be within 1/4”. Once that's set and rest is set then you can adjust sights.

If the string is that old, I’d definitely replace it. As far as alignment, that is something a shop would have to tell you. Unless the cam is leaning really bad it won’t necessarily be visible to the naked eye. Personally I would suggest buying the press and doing it yourself if you plan on keeping it and shooting it. The best way to learn about a compound bow is by messing with it. My first bow was a hybrid. I bought a riser, limbs, and some strings and went to a friend that had a press and started building. Ended up making a beast with an 85 pound pull, but it taught me about how a bow works.
I don't doubt that's the way it's done now.

When I speak of strings, I'm talking the primary string where the arrow is knocked.

$300!? I didn't pay THAT much lol. Of course it was a several year old model, and around 1994-95.
My release now costs more than my last bow.

The picture shows a bow with synthetic cables. Steel hasn't been a thing in 30 years...
Now they use string for everything. That's where a good chunk of the speed comes from. Strings are stronger and lighter than the old steel, and in turn the can lighten the cams, improve efficiency, etc.
My current bow is a few years old, and slings a 400grn arrow at 320fps with only 60 lb draw. Cheating when you only need a couple pins to hit 50 yards and I practice to 100.

I have traditional compounds also, but they suck for serious bow fishing. No reason to have to go full draw multiple hundreds of times over a 12 hour tournament. I shoot almost twice the draw weight most people run bow fishing and don’t have pullouts or distance/depth issues

If you can’t steadily hold back 50-70 with normal let-off you need to hit the gym. I shot 70 all day(shot a couple hours daily), but how are guys hitting anything with bows they can’t handle?
I learned on an old Browning compound 70# with about 30-40% letoff.
The first time I shot 50% I kept trying to jump the shot because it didn't feel right.
Then 60%, 65%, 75% and who knows what now. Is it 85-90%?

There’s no time/reason to go full draw on a lot of shots so the Oneida shines in snap shooting for me. Also having one string/cable like a recurve is nice with nothing extra in the way. I shoot mine instinctive sights are pointless on bow fishing setups with moving targets, refraction, and depth all considered. I’ve shot jumping fish out of the air snap shooting.
