    - I borrowed the headline from Bill Whittle, but I now believe that it's a strong possibility that this might actually occur within my lifetime, and I'm 66 years old. Here's a very well-done video summation of last Sunday's launch and historic booster catch:

The Starship Flight 5 was a mission to launch a vehicle to the moon IO circa Jupiter to explore the ocean for the possibility of life. Nothing to do with Mars.
It’s all to do with mars, that’s the main point of the whole project. Even starlinks logo is based on the Hohmann transfer orbit, and not just because you can use it to transfer satellites from low earth to geostationary orbit. That’s also how you send craft to Mars.

Just because they are doing other missions doesn’t mean it isn’t shake down runs for bigger stuff.

Start at 2:50 their main goal is mars:

Elon Musk: “The first Starships to Mars will launch in 2 years when the next Earth-Mars transfer window opens. These will be uncrewed to test the reliability of landing intact on Mars. If those landings go well, then the first crewed flights to Mars will be in 4 years.”

While I do not disagree with you, you could say that Apollo was a shake down for bigger stuff.

Well you obviously know more than Space X and Elon Musk. NASA didn’t go straight to the moon either they had missions before testing equipment, but their goal wasn’t the moon in all those either right?

Private property rights, mineral rights, resource appropriation ...etc. to be claimed, and done all by ingenuity of private enterprise.
Basically our Government always eagerly endorses this and signs-in helping fund it off the backs of tax payers. Because when private enterprise succeeds, the fruits of it's labor will always be there to steal latter.

I have also read recently that there will be evidence released by years end by a group financed by Zuckerberg thats sole purpose is to seek out signals from other civilizations that they have found such evidence. It also went on to say the Chinese have also found this evidence and will race to beat the US team to the endzone.

There’s also been talk of the government wanting to use fake alien invasions to take over everything. Which honestly seems more plausible than aliens existing.

Like that Orson Wells radio show way back when. I would bet that even i n todays socail media age there will be the same group or airheads(the ones who believed covid was from a wet market) that would believe we are being invaded by real aliens not the illegal variety. There another run on sentence for me.

Great, another money waister with tax dollars. They aren't gonna find anything of value there. I get the whole science thing but it would better spent here, not fly shit into space.

Got to LOVE the idea of AI controlled spacecraft?
Human pilot just along for the ride…lol
Kind of cool and creepy at the same time.

The technology spinoffs of flying stuff into space far exceeds the cost of sending things to space.

That is until NASA became a parking space for DEI BS. And a nest of climate change warriors.

But the private sector is getting it done.

The Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Skylab, Shuttle, Hubble and JPL investments have yielded trillions in spinoff technology for mere billions spent.

Investment “on the planet” is free cheese and giveaways. Invest in core technology and science (not climate religion and proving 37 genders) and the “real engineers” and entrepreneurs will make it pay.

Our number one investments should be in small isotope generator/reactors and room-temperature superconducting materials. But sadly, those would actually solve problems. And if they are solved, corrupt government doesn’t have problems to scare you with… and entice you to demand more government.

Room temperature superconducting materials would solve our 'energy' problems virtually forever. But the 'fakery' back in the 1990's and early 2000's scared off most 'real' research. And all the money went into ersatz climage change BS. Which is not science. It is wealth redistribution disguised as research. It's all BS.

I hear you. It's to bad all those great minds couldn't put that use and knowledge into say, solving the water crisis in poor water needing Countries, creating those same generators/reactors in all Countries where it would benefit us all, etc. But, I know, there is no money in that. Plus Governments love to hold power over the People.

It’s too bad those governments just steal and loot the resources of their countries and let their people starve… instead of developing the intellectual capabilities in their own third world shitholes.
