For those of you that have bore scoped your T1X, how was the bore finish and is it accurate ? my T1X looks pretty good, few tool marks here and there and it does very well in the accuracy dept. The reason I ask is a shooting buddy brought his T1X over to bore scope it, his is very accurate as well, probably more accurate than mine. The bore in his had a lot of tool marks, the leade has some small smears to and in the bottom of the bore it looked like it was sandblasted, full length of the bore, the upper half of the bore was smooth and shiney, his rifle has 5000+ rounds through it. Goes to show you cannot tell how a barrel will shoot by just looking at it. Your input appreciated.

The “gravel road” is from firing over the residue of prior rounds, not much can be done about it.
Some say it’s the primer residue being abrasive, some say it’s condensation drawn to the particles. Over time this will erode to the point the bore is no longer round but oval, and accuracy will continue to deteriorate.
Nature of the beast.

Thats exactly how his barrel looks, like a gravel road, but wow its shoots great, he freaked out when he seen it.

Here's my gravel road, not a Tikka but still shows the same wear pattern. It's caused from the grit in the priming compound.

New unfired hand lapped barrel.

Same barrel 10,000 rounds later.

These two pics show the culprit that causes this wear, silica left in the bore after firing a round.
