Apple released their hearing test for AirPods and wanted to compare my hearing loss to other shooters.

For reference, I shoot a dozen or so matches a year. Most are .22 PRS type and I generally do NOT wear hearing protection due to mostly subsonic ammo and the general low noise. I DO wear hearing protection and use a suppressor for centerfire but also see a lot of muzzle breaks on the line during site in. I would estimate I shoot 5000+ rounds of RF a year and around 2000 CF rounds per year.

I will say that listening to my own breathing during the testing is annoying and I found myself trying to hold my breath at times.

I think I might do slightly better in a quieter environment. Will try again at night when nobody is up and around.

You fuckers and your good hearing!

This mimics the results of my $7k hearing aids. I have always said that if Apple made hearing aids, it would bankrupt the hearing aid market and I hope I am right. This was the first night the app was available on my year old Air Pod Pro 2s

So something that air pods are good for? I have AirPods and prefer my raycons over the AirPods hands down. I’ll have to try this test and see what they show. I went to a horse doctor or some such thing recently and he just cracked jokes about how my hearing is terrible but has to get worse before they would prescribe hearing aids.

I have documented hearing loss from when I was in the Air Force back in the 70's , the VA says not enough for $ , I'm seriously thinking about paying for my own hearing ear dog - service animal, then I can get all the chicks at the dive bar , or NOT !!!!.

All of you failed hugely, bigly, astronomically.

You listened, and heard, the Apple advertisement.......and fell for it.

I already had mine, but if you haven't used them in noise canceling mode, you are missing out. The Pro Gen 2s are great, I use them at the gun range all the time and have converted a few members to them over their usual method.

Im using the pro Gen 1; don’t really find them enough NRR for indoor range. Suppressed is great. But I throw some cheap cans over top and love them.

The Gen 2s are way better than the original version. I wear them all day at work, 1 set with the lightning plug, one with the USB C, those are the ones that have the firmware for the hearing test.
If they didn’t fall out of your ears so easy, I’d love them more. Wore mine for several hours today while I painted. All I hear is music, just the way I like it.

That’s the reason I Cannot use them. They constantly fall out of my ears if doing anything besides sitting on the couch and sometimes even then. I have to use the over the ear or wrap around ear type.
