I like this one. Have said it myself more than a few times. But, I would build a guillotine instead on the capitol steps. Trials would be swift and justice sure. Each defendant would have the chance to plead guilty to treason and testify against one or more of their comrades and for such would be granted life without parole. Plead innocent and they would be tried, convicted, sentenced to the blade all on the same day. No waiting. I will volunteer to pull that string all day long.
2nd - instead of a border wall, declare a 1500y free fire zone pointed south all along the southern border. Build a short sandbag wall along the northern fringe of this zone and post skull & cross-bones signs in multiple languages, and motion detectors with alarm and lights along the south fringe with signs stating all persons regardless of race, religion, nationality, age or sex attempting to cross illegally will be fired upon and direct them to open border crossing venues. Set up watch towers every 1000y along the perimeter with 7.62mm miniguns and spotlights in each tower and NODS for night use with free ammo for all US citizens who have a clean criminal history and a valid hunting license from any state. Have USBP man the towers and hand out ammo to volunteers. Halfway across the no-mans-land sow a 200y wide minefield. It might take 2-3 days of that to stop 99.9% of all illegal border crossings. ELD anyone?
Obviously, only my idea of a joke as nobody would let us do such a thing, even if it would work.

PS one more. Annex Mexico and make it a wholly controlled territory of USA with the option to become USA states at some time in the future. Close the southern border of Mexico using the above process since it is not as long and will require fewer people to man the walls. If Mexico attempts to resist, well, they would not like that.

Well the vast majority of them at least. I wouldn't necessarily support an immediate reduction of force (I can't see how firing 100's of thousands of federal workers who had nothing to do with this mess fixes anything) But ABSOLUTELY an immediate return to the STATES to take responsibility and an intentional and deliberate reduction in a majority of the federal workforce using attrition (voluntary separations and retirements) along with a reduction in many hiring actions. At the same time, a strategic effort to retain and retain essential talent and start paying these workers what they deserve. I'm talking things like supply chain management, cybersecurity, infrastructure, public health, etc- ya know things the federal government should be focusing on.
FEMA needs a change in leadership but they serve (or at least should serve a very important purpose) it's time to make them perform at the level they were charged with though (LONG road ahead in fixing that turkey).
I like the cut of your jib but still believe there needs to be due process, impartial/fair proceedings, AND an opportunity for them to testify against on their cohorts (if only to save their own skins). Personally, I don't see how a minimum of 4 years would be too problematic considering that's exactly what they've done with the Jan 6 political prisoners (on that note, I'd sure like to see an inquiry on government involvement on that). But let's not be too quick to shoot ourselves in the foot before we can collect valuable information on how deep the corruption goes.
I haven't seen it mentioned yet and honestly I can't believe that this wasn't on the top of my memory but... WHO LEAKED THE SUPREME COURT Roe vs Wade decision ahead of time!? We were promised answers and an immediate investigation but have we seen anything since? I don't remember that question being answered.

tax code get fixed and need for IRS big numbers goes away. EPA has a role but it really needs redirection and careful control of it's work.

not a fed gov thing but eg it took fl 10 years to execute ted bundy. been awhile and am not sure but i think the cost of max security prison is/was about 100k/year per inmate. is that just for the tax payers of fl? not even close.

On the public health portion-I hear you and understand where you're coming from but it doesn't HAVE to be like this. As an example, I do like knowing restaurants have to follow certain guidelines AND are subject to surprise inspections (granted that's probably a state issue largely at least for enforcement but I'm fine with apolitical federal health agencies having a larger budget and establishing said guidelines provided those decisions are based on science, 'real science' at least, and free from lobbyist influence).
DOJ/FBI... ok got ya there. I get the need for a federal law enforcement agency (again with the appropriate budget) but it needs to have oversight and be free of political ties (kinda a hard task admittedly). The ATF- they should have been disbanded completely after the embarrassment in the... early 90's I believe with Ruby Ridge, there's very few arguments I agree with justifying their existence/budget as a taxpayer. Furthermore, on the ATF, there's a large number of... items that they enforce that were not passed into law by Congress but rather are self created 'violations & rules' that they themselves created without any checks and balances because "they must know best". So I'd have to imagine you and I are more in agreement than not- but those are some thoughts at least since you mentioned it.
Moving on... border patrol... I feel like we need them but what we don't need is them performing their job being at the whim of ANY political parties. Immigration laws should be just that, same goes for ICE too while I'm at it. DEA... I can see where that made sense at the time when they were founded but feel like they've grossly strayed from (once again) their original charge and were subject to political influence jockeying for budget allocations (funny how that works and always goes back to money). I have similar concerns that I do with the ATF, self imposed rules because "they know best" without laws being properly passed by congress and signed into law by the president. The other thing that drives me nuts with the DEA is we have other 3 letter branches of government that have been in the drug trade for decades and with impunity which bothers me to no end. You can't have a successful "war on drugs" and fund both sides from the same wallet (I'd argue the evidence for something like 40 years supports my opinion).

(not trying to be a dick either by saying you have an opinion, just need to say that after the venom that's been spat for so many years and wanted to be clear).
carry on at own time. i always come from the starting point that no gov is better than any gov and would add gov entities and tasks at a very slow and low progression. careful control and rigid monitoring of same. would self label as a very radical libertarian (close to an anarchist) a la rand,nock,mencken,clemens-old guys.

I was mainly talking about your run of the mill federal employee. They guy/gal that got a job out of college doing things like inspecting meat processing standards, supporting our service members by working for the DOD, scientists that have dedicated their careers to studying (real) public health diseases such as polio/small pox/etc. I won't argue with you that there can be significant downsizing in the federal workforce but I also would suggest we don't 'throw the baby out with the bathwater either' and use a broad stroke to label ALL federal employees is all. But once again- I get where you're coming from in this regard, just trying to add some nuance to your opinion is all. Do with that as you will, we can still be friends either way.
CIA... well all I'll say there, I meant to share this in my last post, but I have some JFK tendencies on not only them but any/all government agencies that think they are self serving and beyond reproach to the American public. Not to say that they have to devolve matters of National Security but rather that argument has seemed to serve as the proverbial Monopoly "Get out of Jail Free" card and is unquestionable. Of course, to establish a true system of 'checks and balances' and congressional oversight of these type of entities, the only way that would work for the benefit of the American public is that the 'watchers' are themselves honorable and incorruptible people and... well I don't think we're there yet either (not by a long shot).
Military... well I really don't have much to discuss with you there. I'll just say the good officers, and I mean REALLY good officers (in my previous experience) usually opt out around the time they hit O-3. There's a certain point... say O-6 when it becomes largely political and we advance politicians more so than military leaders (just one opinion). That said, I've met a handful of general officers that surprisingly would prove everything I said as being wrong but they too hit a certain ceiling once it became aware that their focus was on the mission and not the narrative (not sure if that makes sense but that's the best way I can think of to phrase it). But regardless, we need to get the military back into the business that they serve, and that's to protect our sovereignty and have the capability and focus to do so in a manner that not a single military on the planet would dare to "poke the bear" but instead... well as an example, we're forcing our fighting forces to be pronoun aware.
Tax code/EPA- yep, again agree with you there. I don't know how we even start going about fixing the tax code at this point (just being honest) but I think with the EPA... with the right people auditing it, I think we can make some considerable progress there. I've long since referenced national treasures such as Mount Rushmore, the Hoover Dam, etc, (oh and the Panama Canal) and have argued that we have legislated ourselves out of being able to accomplish similar "great" things/national accomplishments.

Fair enough. I get where your coming from and agree that repercussions should be made public but to pursue justice (as opposed to revenge) I personally believe that we need to adhere to due process, the right to appeal, etc. Now I wouldn't complain one iota if the trials all come across in one fowl swoop and are publicly televised (in fact I'd encourage that they be made public) but I just personally have to stick to my guns here and say due process is important. One of those, rather 10 guilty people be set free than 1 innocent person be condemned mindsets I reckon.
Anywho- this has been a great discussion and I truly appreciate you sharing your opinions with me and how respectful you've been throughout the conversation. I'm all but certain that we're 90+% in agreement with most things but there's a few nuances we see differently and (for me at least) that's more than ok, we're all on the same team after all.

I like all of this. I've posted elsewhere but I'll reiterate. Let's celebrate today but come back refreshed and continue to hold our representatives accountable for yesterday's turnout. In my mind they have only TWO years to prove that they were worth the effort and are beholden to their constituents.
There's a lot of work to do, a tremendous amount of damage to be fixed but let's continue to be vocal and hold them accountable.
Let's find out where the missing 15 million voters are at.....then build gallows for a lot of people who tried to overthrow this country from within.

The first thing he should do is declare AIPAC a foreign agent and relax the zionist grip around our necks. The next appropriate step would be to ban dual citizenship for elected officials and send the traitors packing. Term limits for congress should be next. Until these steps are taken, nothing meaningful will happen and we'll stay on the path of eventual collapse.
Thomas is, currently, 76. Alito is 74. Considering that Thurgood Marshall was 82 before he retired and RBG was 87. I'm hoping that both Thomas and Alito are good for a few more years. As long as their health holds out... I think it was already established that RBG was not in the best of health and should have retired. I want Thomas and Alito to stay right where the are... for now.

I read that after he found about what Epstein was all about, Trump threw him out of Mara Largo, never to return or speak again.
Kinda like what Ben Affleck did after getting a solid debrief on JLo at Diddy's parties.
More likely, the John Roberts on the flightlogs is the Chief Justice @ SCOTUS, and Trump needs leverage on Roberts that the publishing the list would compromise.

yea,90% agreement sounds right. uniform opinion is never a goal in a free society. agree that O3 to 06 max is where i see officers turn from fighters into pols (in current times,not the past). just think E8 about the same enlisted but not claiming that is universal. from what i see of SgtMj of army and usmc,i don't think patton or puller would be impressed. but,just a guess there.
sorry,but my impression of MOST,not all,bureaucrats at any level i have dealt with are lazy,incompetent,arrogant or all 3. there jobs that need doing. the practice of the bureaucracy deciding on and making the rules having the force of law has become the problem. give them tasks but no input in policy or law making. that should be the job of our useless legislatures. most "rules" should arise at the state level.
very much agree with due process and we know how that has gone away in the last 5-10 years. my point,which is not a subject here,is that the whole construction of the criminal justice system is all wrong. should be about guilt or innocence,not game playing.
IMHO the tax code is easy to fix. flat tax or fair tax. eliminate all write offs (yes including mortagage); make capital gains rates same as workers rates; eg straight up 10% of everything you bring in wages,stocks,lotto,whatever; no exemptions,no corp write offs. 10% prob higher than needed. audits straight up look at real income straight pay and done. compliance needing about 20% of current agents max.
