Steiner C35 Gen 2 - Initial range trips and first hunt - Updated 9/30 with third hunt

Bumping up for updates as I may have one of these in the not too distant future. Did the aftermarket ever come around and produce a workable rail mount? How bout a better eyepiece adapter?
Well crap. This is the sort of stuff that makes me lose sleep at night coming up with ideas. Is there a big Rusan dealer here in the U.S.? I like their modular adapter system better than the Burris stuff and I saw something a few days ago that's super precise and more secure but I need to find the link again.
Thinking the Pulsar PSV-P can be adapted. I can't find a diagram for dimension anywhere on it though so I may have to purchase one and start experimenting. If the opening in the PSV-P that'd normally screw onto the ocular end of the Steiner is a good bit larger, there's room for a threaded (ID and OD) adapter.

Also, the Rusan Modular has two different eyepieces, non-mag and 2.5X. I don't know which the C35 Gen 2 would need since I don't have one in-hand and I'm not sure what the shortfalls were with the Burris piece you tried.

Also is the front optic of the Steiner threaded on the ID of the "barrel" (like you could screw a lens hood into it) and does the focusing turn without rotating the inner portion of the barrel?
Yes, there's talk of a mount coming.
If you feel adventurous, you can still get one of the Pulsar PSP-V adapters and have a machinist make you a replacement part for the C35 to thread into. I'm almost certain it will work, because the Pulsar mount is made for M35x1 mm threads, and the Steiner C35 is M33x0.75 mm. So a replacement part with the Steiner threads is necessary, but the mount itself is big enough to handle it.

That was actually my plan. I have contacts that could likely do the machining no problem. I've seen the forthcoming mount and I'll wait for it. If it works like I think it does, there's more support for the C35 than the Pulsar mount.
I'll take any legitimate mount that works at this point. I know there's a mount coming out any day now and version 2 could have improvements like flip to side if it's possible. The form factor may make it awkward..
Fed Ex showed up with my Steiner yesterday evening. Only had time to charge the batteries and take a quick look through it and nothing more. Anyone know if it'll take flat top as well as button top batteries? I didn't try it but I have about eight extra flat tops I keep charged. Seems like the springs on both ends would make up for the small difference in overall length.
Only thoughts at this time are it feels a lot more sturdy than it looks in photos. Now I just need a mount. Hoping to secure one of the Rusan magnifier eye pieces at some point as well.

Posting this in both Steiner C35 threads. Got the temp Burris mount in until the new one is released. Works well with the Steiner 2-12x42 which is on my 308 gas gun. My mount is 1.54" but I'll be switching over to a 1.5" with that scope.
I tried it on my POF P415 which has "optional" top pic railing. It opens up some possibilities due to there being more room for something like a flip to side type mount. You'd have to bolt it on but it'd be slick. Other than that, with a rail bolted down, my PA PLxC 1-8 is perfect with the PLX mount (1.5"). I have a One Hundred Concepts pro cap with flash hider and there is no room between the scope and the thermal. I can't tell that there's a flash hider when looking through it either. So that's the easy button
I'd likely just use the 1-8 on the 308 gasser but it's nice to have options. I have a neoprene shroud on the way as well. I'll try to get some better pics in the near future. Zooming in at 8X is not a problem at all, can barely see the screen pixels.

I looked at their stuff along with Rusan and watched the video you posted and liked the quick connect and extra attention to precision.
The Rusan distributor in the U.S. doesn't even carry most of what they offer (so what's the point of being a distributor?) and I didn't come across any stocking dealers in the U.S. but didn't do a deep dive.

I've been experimenting to figure out setups for every rifle. I didn't even think about setting it up on my Spear LT in 300 blackout initially but thought it'd make a great, compact pig gun.
After a bit of research, I picked up a PA GLX 2x prism scope which has over 4" of eye relief. Messed around with a few QD mounts and the ADM QD worked out best from an alignment standpoint but it's not 100% perfect in other areas. None-the-less, it allows everything to mount over the receiver and not on the rail. Actually makes a nice, somewhat balanced package. I purchased the anti-reflection device for the GLX and thanks to an o-ring, it can be adjusted fore/aft by rotating the ring and extending outward to the point where it pretty much is up against the back of the Steiner. I do wish the C35 looked a bit more tacti-cool but I can live with it.
I went out to the range and took three rifles. I dialed the Steiner in on all three and it was actually pretty intuitive once the first one was done. Has three memory slots. Five would be ideal but I'm thinking if I have the same scope/mount on my other rifles, one of the three presets would be pretty damn close. The alignment numbers up top were a bit hard to read in daylight but it's easy enough to position that area of the screen over a featureless area where the numbers were then visible.
Once you really start using the Steiner, the rotary menu system is fast. I'm still blown away by the image detail this thing offers. Watching the deer in and around my property at night is pretty amazing, even at distance. It's a bit harder to use in daylight when looking at a target. Luckily I brought some black target stickers which were perfect. You do lose contrast when zooming in and the black targets can get lost for lack of a better description. But at lower magnification, they're easy to see. The pigs don't stand a chance.

Quick question to those running the Gen 2...periodically, I get a "click" and the image freezes for a nanosecond. I'm assuming it's some sort of auto record or still image recording? Any idea how to turn it off?
Been experimenting with aftermarket batteries. The batteries included with my Steinter were labeled Modlite and they don't seem to have a ton of capacity compared to some high quality Japanese cells of the same capacity.
I ended up purchasing four of these and they seem to last longer than the included batteries. These are identical in length.

Yep. If the mounting system for that device wasn't pants on head retarded (for the US market) I'd buy one to supplement my gen 1 that gets whored around on like seven rifles. I don't understand why this is so difficult for Steiner to get squared away. Take the gen 2 C35 and give it a sturdy interface for something like an ACOG mount... BOOM, watch the euros roll in. BIGLY bonus points if they can shoehorn a LRF or at least a pic rail (or interface for a pic rail) on left (and maybe right) side so we can mount our own WMLRF there if needed.
