So I stumbled upon this 308 fitted in a RACS chassis in a local auction and had to have it. My 1st. Looks somewhat customized, came with a compensator and a 5rder. Missing side rails. Previous owner told me it is one of the earlier versions. Is there anything more I should know about this?

Great chassis mate.

You'll be very happy with it. It's almost identical to the M40A6 RACS chassis, minor things, mainly colour and typically the rear bridge doesn't need to be flattened on that model.

A little bummed it has a relief cut for what looks like a QD lug for barrel swaps?..... just derps it's collectability a bit but damn dude. Great find.

Color is off but it's a great little chassis. Nothing a bit of cerakote couldn't fix if you wanted.
I'd agree with you if this were some other type of chassis, but the OP should never cerakote this chassis! This is the same type of chassis that's found on the insanely rare and desirable CAG Surgeon CSR sniper rifles (there's one on Gunbroker for $40,000 right now). Also, 5 RACS chassis of this exact type were sent to PWS for the Marines to test, and that's what led to the Corps selecting a very similar RACS chassis for their M40A6 sniper rifles (I actually own 1 of those 5 original USMC RACS prototype chassis that looks like this one). Collectors/cloners who want to built a CAG Surgeon CSR or a prototype M40A6 would pay a shitload of money for this chassis, and that's because it's anodized. Cerakoting this chassis would destroy it's value instantly! To the OP, please don't cerakote or modify this chassis even further. The switchlug cutout is bad enough, there's no reason to do more damage, since it's still a very rare and very valuable chassis.

I’ve got a couple original side rails. They are black in color. Send me a PM if you are interested. They aren’t doing me any good.
I've done a lot of deals with @RemCustom6, and I'm proud to call him a friend! @SpawnLee, you can trust this gentleman with absolutely anything, so I suggest that you contact him about any RACS chassis pieces that he's offering you!

This is a grail build for me, and am very grateful for the amount of information you've given me, Sir. Mind if I ask something else, is Vortex razor gen 2 and reptilia AUS mount a common companion for the chassis? Like in this photo?

I used this exact photo for reference when building my LW RACS rifle. I didn't have a Surgeon action but I got close enough for what I wanted.

The combo is a Vortex Razor Gen III, Geissele Mount and Reptilia ROF Contract diving board.

Thats what Im going for, but I already have the Gen II and Reptilia AUS on the way. I purchased the mount that is 1.7inch high, do you think that one is gtg?

I have a legit Surgeon CSR and it's a pretty amazing rifle. It originally had a prototype Leupold Mark 6 scope mounted, but I replaced it with a NightForce Mil-Spec ATACR 7-35x56 scope. I like both scopes, but the color and aesthetics of the NF scope seems like a better match to the rifle (in my opinion). I don't have the specific scope and mount that's in the photo you posted, but I assumed that you might still be interested in seeing these photos of my original Surgeon CSR. I hope that you're able to build one using the Remington RACS chassis that you recently acquired. Please let me know if you want me to post more photos and information about this rifle.

Awesome looking. I have one more question, what is the ideal height for the mount-ring? 1.7"?

That looks like the contract 4-20, not 7-35... Never seen one not on an issued SR25.
