Everyone in the gun owning community has lost faith in the NRA. They've almost completely abandoned competitive shooting and destroyed the conventional rifle and pistol National Championships. Their failed leadership has reduced participation from between 700-1000 shooters to around 60 annually.
They do almost nothing to protect 2nd amendment rights in most states and have abandoned most blue states completely. They squander 50% or more of dues money on million plus salaries for senior leadership and have leveraged association assets to the hilt. You hear nothing from them about gun rights and do not see any one of them on TV anymore. They cannot even hire a shill to speak to the media.
The magazine is pure shit, adverts and bullshit stories, every page is ad space with very little information. There is not enough to read to make it through one complete shit. They paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to send that fucking idiot LaPierre and his goofy wife to Africa to kill elephants, it was tragic and the video is enough to make hunters into anti-hunters. Watching a pasty white office pig sweat like a whore in church and then miss targets 20 feet away.
I bought a table at an NRA banquet 15 years ago and paid for eight people to attend. Every drawing was a fraud and rigged. They gave up reading off the ticket numbers and stood in front of a room full of people awarding prizes to each other. They tricked some poor bastard into bidding $7,500 blind on the contents of a closed gun safe. This poor fuck was drunk and broke as hell and could not have paid for this rip off, his wife was staring daggers at him. They opened the safe after the bid and he had just bid on a $300 dollar bottom of the line Remington and two Henry 22's and a $2,000 safe. The room was dead silent, no other bidders. He stood there like an idiot knowing his divorce was coming FAST. They threw in more crap and still no bidders, his wife was furious and it showed. Finally, some friend of the sponsors stepped in and bid $7,550 to get him off the hook. For buying a table, I got a plastic George Washington head and worthless raffle tickets to prizes won by the people hosting the dinner. Never did that again, never will do that again.
What fucking "gun rights" organization flies their "vice-president" around the world with a 25yo whore so he can fuck her first class all over Europe on the company dime?????????? The God damned NRA does. Then we buy the asshole a mansion in Dallas and pay him $2.1 million a year for life in pension.
The corruption is epic and has not stopped. They are assholes. I've had a life membership since 1992 and they will not get a dollar until they get their shit sorted out.
