The annual TheGermans by proxy “What stupid Christmas Gift You Get” thread?

I got a Swaro Z8i and some other misc. stuff, heated tree stand seat, new coffee maker...

The only dumb thing was a pair or fuzzy Christmas socks from my wife, womens size 5-10. I wear a 13. :ROFLMAO: I gave them to my daughter.

She gave my son the same socks. He wears a 14. He gave them to his wife.

$320 cash and a bunch of snacks. I got myself a Tikka T3x Tac a1 and a Zeiss SRP L5. Ate some great food. My toddler got a Minnie Mouse four wheeler, a bike, a kitchen set, and a shit ton of toys. I gave my wife a gold chain with a diamond pendant, a peanuts themed sweater, a $50 hobby lobby gift card, and bath & body works stuff. Great Christmas 🎄!

My SIL has been staying with us until she gets her mobile set. She used to work with special needs people. One of them has spent Christmas with us. She has fetal alcohol syndrome and has the mental capacity of a 6 year old. She is 68 now. It has been a treat to watch the enthusiasm she has for Christmas. I am blessed to know her and hope some of her joy rubs off on me.

Christmas eve I got a message to go help out a friend, not an unusual request so off I went.
Got there & then said ok what do we need to do ?
Reply was, come across the road the neighbour needs a hand,
Walked in the door & the neighbour handed me a Christmas card from some of my friends that had over $1000 in it plus a bunch of lotto scratchies.
Said they knew things were rough at the moment & knew I would not except otherwise.

I'll give some backstory & context,
These are friends & neighbours that I help out with mechanical stuff just because we are friends & I like to help where I can. (No Charge)

My eldest son 31 had a serious motorcycle accident on the 8th of November,
(young driver did an illegal u/turn without looking leaving my son without time to avoid a collision so he hit the B/pillar of the ute/pickup)
This resulted in his helmet being broken & skull fractures, extensive facial fractures, compound fractures of his jaw plus Severe traumatic brain injury, also other injuries, ribs, scapula etc.
I've been at the hospital most of the time since the accident. (ICU, coma, 4 surgeries)
His wife was heavily pregnant at the time with their second child, Baby now 10 days old & he is doing well.

Our Christmas morning was odd & very quiet, no decorations or presents this year.
Went to the hospital at about11am where we met with the daughter inlaw, grandkids a few extended family members.
Took the son out into a quiet garden area for a couple of hours with everyone & he was the best he has been & spent some quality time with his 4yo boy.

We have had a shit leadup to Christmas & have a long road ahead but we had a good day for Christmas.

Sorry for the long rant even tho it is a very condensed version of whats going on.

Merry Christmas all
Thanks
Drew

Sounds like a mighty fine Christmas!!
Best way to celebrate IMO is to do something for someone else with a loving heart.

I could give a crap about presents.

I care a lot about presence.

My parents are good hearted folks like you and we always had someone with no family over for holiday meals and all the games and fun.

Best to you and yours my friend.

Prayers for your boy
Prayers for you and your family.
It aint always easy shouldering a lot and it is clear you do. And those around you recognize it too.

Yer boy gonna get into TBI rehab?
Thankyou, we appreciate all good will towards the situation.

Yes he is now in TBI rehab but is still in the Post Traumatic Amnesia stage.
Having difficulties still with the hospital not listening, withholding information & lying to us.
It is very frustrating & I'm tired.

My lovely wife got me a mantis x2. Maybe my pistol game will improve. Kids got me a bunch of cool stuff that I don’t need, but made me smile. I was also given a stripped lower. Probably going to do a retro build with an A1 stock and maybe a 18” or 20” upper. More blessed than I deserve for sure. Having a complete family is one of the best gifts I can ask for.

Sounds a lot like our Christmas, no presents (yet) due to grandkids being sick, spent the day alone waiting to do a belated get-together until maybe next week sometime. Lost my youngest son in May, and it's his family that's sick rt now. By the time they're well, others may very well be sick. Plus nothing will ever be the same without my son, he was always the life of the party.

Since 2020, and the buildup to 2020 that I can now plainly see, I do not trust most of the medical industrial complex any further than I can spit against a hurricane. However, there are times when we have to...

@Drew M

Thats no good.
Really aggravates me actually.

There are still good people in the hospitals. I will sadly admit, even in my own dept, that they are further in between than I care for. 20 yrs ago they were shoulder to shoulder, 90% or better with good hearts and wanting to do right by the patient and family.

The “me me me” mentality of most Americans has changed the face of healthcare, not on a good way.

Prayers will continue.

Cigars. Lots.
Shirts.
And some joker gave me a huge bottle of glucosamine. After the last train wreck with livestock this year the jabs keep coming.

I got myself an 8 point buck out the back door after opening gifts. 30 caliber with no can and a brake. I didn't tell anyone I was going to shoot. People had heart attacks, the cat shit while launching off the couch and the dogs posted up. "Who needs glucosamine now, turds?"

I got no complaints.

We are having an extended family Christmas starting in a couple of hours. My wife has already green-lit my Christmas gift. The ability to tell them all to fuck right off. That’s the gift that gives all year.
