Decided to clean my ultra 9 with some clr today. I wanted to protect my finish so I decided to wrap it with plastic bags and duct tape. I figured clr is cheaper than the breakthrough and boretech suppressor cleaners and I didn't have to wait for shipping to get here. Good day to do it since it's snowy.

It's the opposite there the only cans you can use clr on with no ill effect. Thunderbeast recommends clr to clean them and that's what they use to clean suppressors.
CLR is what you use. TBAC said they just fill them with CLR as well
I think I figured out my confusion, aluminum is a bad idea, not titanium.
Anyway, I got a silicon plug set off Amazon for under $10 to plug holes and it works great.

I have been using it on stainless suppressors and stainless baffles out of 22 cans for years. I may be miss-informed, but my understanding is the only risk is to the outside finish. I haven't had any issues with the plugs leaking so no CLR on outside of cans.
I rarely clean my center-fire rifle cans, maybe every 1,500 rounds.
It did remove the gold coating from my DA Mask baffles, but I don't care. Soaking them overnight makes cleaning so much easier.
I rinse with water then oil so no CLR near aluminum tube

Last time I cleaned my suppressor I used boretech c4. This clr after about 8 hrs I emptied it and the amount of carbon and the size of carbon that came out was amazing and draw dropping. I have it soaking more but I really don't think the c4 did as good of a job as I thought.
Stainless steel and titanium are OK for CLR use…

My mask baffles look the same. Let them sit in C4 in the ultrasonic for an hour at 160*. Didn't even have to wipe them, but they looked shiny and silver.
I just keep a pickle jar filled with C4 and reuse it over and over. Just drop the whole jar in the cleaner and it works without having to spend $100 to fill the tank.
The crap that came out of my suppressor was amazing. I don't think the c4 did anything like I thought. I will clean more often and always with clr. I did get some of the clr trapped between plastic bag and suppressor and it did get some of my coating but honestly doesn't even look bad and it will be covered. It almost looks like I just got it hot so not going to stress over the coating specially where my cover is covering it.
So weighed my supressor and from when I started it was about 14 oz now it's almost 10 oz. That thing was dirty dirty!!!! Only suppose to be like 1.5 to 2 oz of build up I had 4oz. I decided to soak it one more time just to make sure and get it close to 10 oz as I can which is factory new.
