This morning Nvision posted a photo of a scope on their instagram and it looks like a new thermal from them. See photos below. The ocular lens is different and something on the right side of it. Maybe a focus? The range finder was also different. looks to have a button on it? @Max_R any input since cats out of the bag? See photos below.

Also, just looks like a HALO XRF?

My hopes are ready to be dashed when they only update the HALO line and don't bring an HD core out but a fella can hope right?

At a glance you are correct but if you look closer the ocular is a different design not pvs14 type and the range finder has a button on it.

I hope they figured out a way to shave some weight or at least increase focal length and maybe put a bigger sensor in it? Otherwise it's pretty much looking like the same design with very minimal updates

Agreed.. an App for getting your videos off would help too. They are so far behind... I really hope they catch up.

So, do I pull the grips into my belly while leaning over the gun to look through the scope?
I mean, I’ll do whatever it takes if I get to shoot the thing. I’m just looking for some clarification.
You just use a 12" tall riser so your head is in the up position, fuck the spine.

The Halo XRF has a constant on RF, wasting battery life. Maybe it's a modified XRF with a button to range only when you want more readily than the top multi-button thing to turn the RF off/on

Have an XRF now. Love it. Love the brand and customer service but they have fell behind.
Feel the same way. I have had the chance to BS with those guys and they are good dudes. Just wish they would come out with some different stuff. I am a big Made in USA guy and they are about the only game in town.
If not, next season I may be running a Nocpix
I saw these, I love how the RF is inside the objective housing, and I love the "regular scope" form factor. I am a lefty, so I have to run a riser on my bolt gun when I put my halo on it. I just can't bring myself to go Chinesium on these, from what I can tell they are basically the same megafactory as Iray.

So far I have the only thing I have heard is that NVision is coming out with a clip on.

Running the Nocpix scanner now. It’s awesome. I’m also left handed and want to run a lefty bolt action next year so I really like the regular scope form factor as well.

All I’ve heard is a Nvision clip on as well.

I want a 1280 Res with LRF, I like the constant RF option, and most importantly an integrated Ballistic Calculator Reticle.

If it has these I’ll stay Nvision.

I have an XRF and an X35. They don't get much use anymore since I got the Nocpix Ace H50R and will likely get sold. That's a great scope. I too hate the chinesium, but it's hard to deny just how much better their thermals are nowadays. If Nvision came out with a 1280 core thermal with an app, ballistics etc, I'd likely switch back, but I think that's mostly a pipe dream. I think it's more likely that Nocpix announces the release of their 1280 (S60R) in the US this year.

Glad to hear that. I have the Nocpix scanner and it’s way better than my pulsar telos I had.

I kept the XRF since Nocpix was released mid season, but if they introduce the S60R in the USA and Nvision doesn’t move I’m gonna upgrade to the S60R.

I went with the Halo XRF. Deciding factor was made in the United States instead of People's Republic of China.
It's what I keep going back to, even though Nvision has clearly been left in the dust with regards to innovation and technology in the consumer market.

It's really too bad Flir shit the bed so hard in the civilian market. I have a buddy that works for them on the .gov sales side and their capabilities are frickin incredible when it comes to thermal imaging. I started the thermal game with an old Flir thermal scanner and a pts536. Their customer service was pure shit and it was next to impossible to get in touch with them. Had it not been for my friend, I would have been SOL on a few issues I had.

The Made in the USA game is always a tough one to play, as you almost always pay a premium to go that way. I imagine it is probably exacerbated when it comes to the thermal stuff since there are so many electronic components...and you know, lack of slave labor.

I wish I was rich enough to start a company with some "seed money" so to speak for select companies that are willing to make their products here. It seems like once they get traction (Origin, Forloh) they can stay semi-competitive in the market. I think you will always pay a premium though.

Won't beat that horse to death, and not meant to derail. Just really want a more modernized thermal made domestically, which I also realize is a first world problem...

Is the image better or what makes you say it’s a better scope?

I have an RL25 v2 and it has a nice image but has to be adjusted like every night and is pretty touchy to have a useable image. Once adjusted the image is great though.

NOX18 on the other hand is adjusted maybe 3 times a hear as the seasons change and the image is fantastic. This alone has me considering NVisions new (I’d guess 640 res) scope over the 1040 and 1280 Chinese options

Curious as well.

I'm considering the H50R or the S60R if it comes to the states.

Yeah the image is better than the XRF, but that’s just part of it. It has a lot more features like recoil activated recording, ballistics, ocular zoom (if you’re into that.. seems occasionally useful I guess), custom reticles, and an app that makes all of that easy to do as well as retrieve your recordings/photos in a few seconds. It feels better when running it on a bolt gun platform as well. The only knock I see on it (other than being chinesium) is the internal battery, which could go bad over time, but it has a 5 year warranty and don’t see it being an issue really. Don’t get me wrong, I’d MUCH prefer buying US made and Nvision’s customer service is awesome. I’d even pay a premium for it, but the scopes are just so far behind the other brands it’s hard to justify the premium for a better overall package with more features for cheaper price.

standalone would require a rear end magnifier to remagnify the demagnification on the back end. Else TINY display - which you want tiny for a clipon so you can have more day scope zoom support.
With 3x on front And 1/3x on back an xrf clipon could support ball park 12x on day scope (my rule of thumb is 4x on day scope for every 1x on front end of clipon - good units can squeeze higher).
Some clipons use software demag, and can do standalone easy by removing the demag with software. But software demag hasnt produced as clear an image as optical demag. So if this is a clipon, I hope n-vision uses optical demag and doesnt delay release to make a screw on remagnifier first. :)

5x magnifier worked well behind standalone Voodoo-M

That’s interesting.
I did the opposite with a nox35 as a clipon with the black optics demag and collimator.

Brighter pic is nox darker with rooflines is a utcx. Building is 400ish yards.

I ran pulsar stuff for a while, jumped on a good price for an XRF 2 years ago. I used it for the winter coyote season and sold it. Went back to Pulsar. The XRF is a great scope, but for the money there is better options. The XRF is simpler to use as far as buttons and menu goes for a new guy to just hop right on and use it right away, but other than that i think most other high tier thermals are superior. The XRF feels bulky, heavy, and the image in my eyes just didn't compete with an XP50, let alone the XG or XL...I think the XRF would survive stress test better but the last thing i do with an 8000$ scope is let the thing bounce around in the back of my truck, so i can throw the whole durability deal out the window.
For the price they get, i genuinely would hope its a 1024 at minimum at 3.5 Base mag, and ballistic calculator. Then i would consider it for next year. Otherwise, probably staying with pulsar.

I’d honestly just be happy with the xrf and a ffp mil based reticle. I’ve yet to see or look through anything that compares to my xrf. Just hate having to think about the values in the heat of the moment with the sfp reticles.
This was another one of my gripes with the XRF..that SFP reticle.... That much money you would think they would just install a FFP reticle. I failed to go through reticles when i bought the XRF i had, and immediately was disappointed.

Update from a buddy at shot.

Can’t be used as standalone and the first versions may or may not have recording but the next versions definitely will. AB is done through a phone app to make a custom drop reticle. Wasn’t clear if it will display drop metrics or have a disrupted reticle. Maybe both?

End of the day this is the prototype. Not even close to release. Nvision says end of fall 25. My guess is 26’

Yeah what a disappointment. They've been talking about this clip-on for years. Meanwhile chinesium has been releasing 1280's with way more features at probably 1/2 the cost of what this will be.

This thing will be obsolete before it even gets released.

It’s sad. I like NVision. I’ve almost bought a NOX18 multiple times, and talked with them about buying one of their “blem” Filmless PVS-14’s that they offer from time to time(they didn’t have any in stock at the time), but their product offerings (at least the ones I’m interested in) just aren’t competitive with what else is out there.

If they released a NOX18 that had a clip on mode(not even with a Risley prism, I’m cool with having to “zero” it like the RH25) for ~$6,000, I’d have one yesterday. But it’s been ~4 years since the NOX18 has been updated, which is basically like 20 years in the thermal market. I hope they continue to turn out new/improved products in the future. I’d like to buy one some day.
