Outlier Build Question

If I purchased the barrel w/ pre-fit action of Tikka T3, chassis, stock, grip, and rails at outlier, is the only other piece of the puzzle the receiver and trigger and would the linked receiver/trigger work with an outlier build? Do yall know of any other places that sell tikka t3 actions?

They are pretty much the only ones selling Tikka actions I think. Kinda depends on your needs but I was building off a Tikka right now I would buy one on sale from eurooptic and part it out before instead of buying an already parted out action. Getting the barrels off is a pita but you can probably sell for a couple h compact stocks you can get 150 for or the hunter stocks go for between 2-300. the cerakoted barrels sold as takeoffs could probably get you a little more money too.

This ^^^

You can get a T3X lite for $800 which is $100 cheaper than the action by itself. The barrels are supposedly a pain in the ass to get off though (I've never done it myself, it's just what I've read on multiple threads here).

I agree with this option, grab a complete system and part out what you want to get rid of, especially when you can get it cheaper than just a stripped action. Now you’ll need to invest in some tools to pull the barrel but you need them anyways to install the new one.

Given this is my first build, tearing down a working gun solely to acquire an action seems like a bit much. I think I'll just go the savage 110 route and save myself some time and money. The build should get me comfortable enough to attempt the tikka route in the future.

That’s fair, no need to get in over your head on the first go around. Plus savage has the ability to swap out bolt heads down the road if needed.

If you’re going the savage/outlier route, I just took it.

Bass pro / Cabela’s has 6.5prc 110 tactical on clearance for 500.00.

I bought the rifle, and sold the barrel, bolt head, and AICS magnum mag for 300.00. Still have the stock and bottom metal to sell, can probably get 150-175 for it. Ordered replacement bolt head and firing pin.

I already had AR butt stock I wanted to use.

I’m 200.00 for the outlier chassis and fore end, and worst case I’ll be in 200.00 for the savage blue printed action(allegedly). Will polish up action over next couple weeks and see if this kit is worth barreling.

Only downside to what I’m describing here: the 6.5PRC is short action, large barrel shank. Great if you ever want to shoot another short action magnum. But if you’re trying to cheap your way into barrels, you won’t find many non magnum large shank barrels.

No issue if you’re ordering a custom barrel.
