1. Not sure. If there were they'd probably be twice as much.I've read many things on this subject but still got questions. I think I want to build a Tikka 22-250 or 22 creed. It's actually for my son. He's left handed which really decreases options. I was gonna just buy a T3 in 22-250 and throw it in a MDT XRS chassis. It appears that the 22-250 only comes in the light version and has a thin non threaded barrel. That's a no go. I will not shoot unsuppresed. And I'd really like a thicker barrel for longer shot strings. I'm sure many will tell me to start with a custom action but the things that appeal to me about Tikka are:
1. Most think they are a great action
2. 70 degree bolt throw
3. The bolt locks with the safety
This will mostly be a prairie dog and coyote rifle.
Questions: 1. Are there Tikka clone actions?
2. Other left handed actions I should consider?
3. Should I mess with a Oregon mountain barrel action?
I need to get a hold of you all to do a 6.5cm barrel for my Tikka 18-20" M24 contour and threading for an OTB suppressor, just didn't know what your lead times looked like..The tikka is a superb factory action. It's probably one of the smoothest and it's consistent enough that I make shouldered prefits for them. In fact, we launched that particular segment of the market.
If you're building a hunting rifle and you're not concerned with being able to put on a 4oz competition trigger then there's not much downside to a Tikka for your son.
The big thing is going to be not to skimp on the barrel. You'll get much farther down the accuracy road spending more money on a barrel than you will on the action.

I can confirm that. I spent 20 minutes gossiping with Mike over at Criterion, and he confirmed the barrel nut. Criterion felt that they couldn't make shouldered pre-fits to sufficient tolerances and thus were "forced" into using barrel nuts. With barrel nuts a far as I know from NSS. Wish they were shouldered prefits like the Zermatt.
As of last year PVA was making the barrel nuts that NSS is selling. With barrel nuts a far as I know from NSS. Wish they were shouldered prefits like the Zermatt.
My Tikka has PVA and it is an awesome shooter.Patriot valley arms comes to mind.
Proof makes tikka prefits with limited cartridge selection and barrel lengths.
Some gunsmiths offer a prefit option as well.
Lol!Last time out he started my suppressor cover on fire shooting his 243 AR10. This after many requests to slow down the rate of fire.
This is good advice! I am left handed I have the tikka T3X Tac came in 6.5 I now have a Bartline Barrel in 6 Dasher it is a Tack driver I shoot f-class 300,600,&1000 yards I have done a lot of upgrades to get it competitive. But as mentioned by many it still falls short in sone areas!! I just purchased a full blown custom.I'm a lefty. I bought a tikka to drop in an expensive chassis (cadex) and it is definitely a very good shooting rifle. It's every bit as capable as a full custom setup (with the right ammo of course).
If the cost of a tikka is not far from some of the more budget friendly custom options (zermatt origin as an example), maybe the PX is your best bet. Might be able to find a left handed action or rifle if you're patient enough. And a custom action with an R700 footprint could end up staying with him for a lot longer as he gets older because there are more options for upgrades (triggers, stocks). My tikka is nice and a good shooter, but I have no need for it anymore once I went custom. I wanted my competition rifle to match my trainer rifle, and the tikka feels different, so I decided to just buy a new bolt and barrel for my comp rifle to keep operation the exact same. I have no need for two .223's, so the tikka will be moving on. In these cases, a custom with an R700 footprint is cheaper.
Looks nice.
I am looking for a set of high rings. I thought they only made low rings, though. That's about as far back as you can get the tripod with that particular arca rail. It's much much more stable than a bipod. They are vortex rings. I think high. They are much too high but it's what I had on hand and my son liked how they look so we kept them.
What model of Leofoto head are you using on the tripod?
