Touching the lands at spec OAL

I have a rifle that touches the lands when seated to spec OAL (3.330 for a 280AI). Anybody seen that before?

I’ve been loading 3.300 to keep it 30 thou off the lands, shoots fantastic. Just odd that I’m under, I’m usually way over.

I have a 280AI Shilen barrel that a few bullets touch the lands at below the max OAL spec. 280AI doesn't have a lot of free bore so max OAL can easily be limited by the bullet style.

Ah, that makes sense. Shooting Berger classic hunter 168’s.

My only thought is that it may not like factory ammo. But then I don’t have any plans to shoot factory ammo, so moot point…
