Surefire Smedium frame…6arc and “others”

I might be wrong, but I was under the impression that the Six8 lowers will work with standard AR15 uppers.

You can probably run a standard mag in the Six8. I've never seen one. However, a mag for the Six8 is larger and won't fit in a standard AR15, so these new mags won't fit in any existing guns unless they have Six8 magwell dimensions.

You need a different upper with wider walls around the feed ramps, since the Six8 PMAGs are significantly wider.

The LWRC and New Frontier Armory uppers and lowers are different than standard AR-15 receiver sets for this reason.

LWRC and NFA do allow standard barrels and BCGs to be used in them.

so is this the beginning of a new AR standard? the AR-12.5? halfway between AR-10 and AR-15?
or is it the AR-6.8? AR-68 since we don't do decimals?

the anti-gun people will go ape-sh!t, because AR-68 is 53 AR's more than AR-15.

time will tell.

Idk. Surefire and sole-source says “fuck you money” to me.
It isn't sole-source. New Frontier has receivers. With SF and PSA entering the fray you'll probably see more this year.

I think you're going to see a bunch of incremental improvements to bolts too. Listen the GA podcast about their new BCG. They changed lug radii and improved lug strength significantly. I believe the Monster bolts did something similar too.

But how far out can a bullet be loaded to be just short of internal dimension length vs around 2.240 in a regular mag?
I measured my Six8 PMAGs internal raw length with the follower removed.

2.325” raw, so you could load to 2.300” with tolerance variance and be good to go I think.

I was going to hog them out for Grendel, but I’ll just get the new ones now.

I already have the NFA Receiver set.

Geissele ARC mags have really long raw internal length about the same as that. They fit in regular AR-15 receivers.

what's the longest coal that geissele 6 arc mags can be loaded to?
The raw internal length I measured on a sample of 1 Geissele 6 ARC mag was 2.327”, so you could load to 2.310” and should be fine, not experience bind-up.

I’ve experienced bind-up from the meplats before with .260 Rem loaded a little long in Gen I 7.62 PMAGs. I was loading up mags before a stage and the cartridge stack jammed-up, but I could still load 15 and it ran fine, so you have to test the whole cartridge stack, not just one round.

For 6.5 Grendel, my CProducts and ASC mags allow loading to around 2.300”. I don’t have feeding problems either.
