I just hope it’s quality mfg’s that put in the work to get it right. I doubt SF is going to put their name on junk but I can see Sig rushing a rifle to market just to let end users beta test their shit and then abandon it. I have even less faith in PSA.

Yeah, I don’t really care about the usual suspects other than driving economy of scale for ammo and mags.

I only trust certain shops to make things right and select parts from them.

Semi Monolithic is the way to go for uppers with flush-fit/feel handguards and no need to bridge upper/handguard top rails.

I’ve already been reaching out to certain companies asking for specs on uppers that are different.

Another company who is poised to latch onto this is Hydra.

They could just make a magwell mod. MGI used to use wider clearance uppers anyway for the AK mags, so that has to be in-place for the new modular Quick-Change Barrel system too. I’ll go compare my AK and Six8 mag feed lip and top-end dims now.

My polymer 7.62x39 mags have the same width up top as the Six8 PMAGs. They’re both right around 1.010”.

The orifice for the standard AR-15 upper that mates to the mag well is .920”.

NFA 6.8 upper orifice is 1.020” wide.

My 1st Gen MGI QBC upper seems to have standard mag well orifice. I think the 2nd Gen opened up, but I sold the one I had.

They even tried an M14 mag well back in the day, but it didn’t work.

This was the 1st Gen, which is what I got back in 2007.

I actually dipped my toes in the water with 6.5 Grendel first using this in 2009, as I could just drop the barrel in and give it whirl.

I modified my MGI Gen I upper by machining off the 3 & 9 o’clock rails, cut vent slots in it, and profiled the locking lever shafts to be flush with the top of the handguard. Cerakoted it all Coyote Tan.

I later just installed my 1st 16" Grendel barrel in a normal upper.

If this is going to use a newer and stronger bolt and mag extension hopefully this will be able to run 62K PSI bolt gun 6 ARC loads. Or if we really want to dream, an 80K PSI version of the the 22 ARC/6 ARC/6.5G using the new Federal Peak Alloy case (like used in the 7mm Backcountry)...
