Manners Composite Stocks Estimated Lead Times

Got a Nightstalker after a 9 month wait. Anyone having qc problems? Two threads on the bridge were no good, caused me to strip the little stoppers. Manners wants me to pay for the ride to send it back. Have near a dozen stocks from them, my first real issue.

That’s bullshit. They’re making you pay for an improperly qc’d product?

So just stop whining about it, and pack it up and ship it to them and worry about it later.

I really like Manners. But do you think it’s fair for me to have to pay for the ride back?

I just extracted the screws and I’m going to live with it. But it’s a lot of money for a stock to have a few positions of the NV bridge unusable.

If it was me and I wanted to send it back for repairs, I'd have it already packed up and shipped back before bothering to come complain on here.
If they sent me a return label, great, if not, I'd just take care of shipping it back and not bother, it's not a big expense either way.

If you went to the store and got something and didn't like it, would you go take it back to the store or would you whine and complain and demand someone from the store come get it from you?

Up to you either way, but "customers" these days have sure gotten spoiled and demanding. The outcome of all that is we have to pay higher prices for things to cover all the things others demand.

That's fine, we can agree to disagree. Sending the stock back would cost at least 40 if not more, for something that is entirely not my fault. One thing I have enjoyed about the 'gun industry' is that customer service is usually stellar, of course there are exceptions. Manners makes my favorite stocks and I will continue to buy from them. But I am disappointed that there was a qc issue upon stock arrival, I reached out to them, was told to send it back. I inquired twice as to getting a prepaid label and they ghosted me. So I came here to see if other people were having similar experiences. Isn't the point of an online forum to discuss issues with like-minded people? Although I do understand a lot of people on this forum love to be trolls and stir the pot.

I feel the frustration but $40 on your end is not bad and they will be shipping it back to you so another $40 on their end. It's a split between you both. You can ship it cheaper but if its lost and no Insurrance your out a new stock and no one is paying for that but you.

If it's just 2 screws 1 on each side I'd be dealing with it. If 4 screws will not hold whatever you are putting up there then 6 surely wont. Also easy enough to tap the threads to a step or 2 up and be done that way.

It’s amazing to me people will shit on someone for being dissatisfied that a product that takes 4-6 months to ship and is custom made, didn’t pass a QC process then the company that made it wants it shipped back on customer dime is the champion here.

Holy shit the absolute ball gargling.

And the “store” analogy is fuckin dumb.

Would I have even made a post? Naw. I would’ve either had them fix it 💯 on their dime, or let them fight my credit card company.

If I’m spending 1000 plus on something I expect it to either be right the first time, especially after a 4-6 month lead time, or they pay shipping both ways and fix it, or I get a complete refund.

Y’all need to touch grass. Every one of you. High end gun shit is expensive. People get to be dissatisfied if it’s incorrectly made after a 4-6 month wait. He’ll, I waited a YEAR for a PRS TCS stock and they didn’t clear coat it like I asked. I personally chalked that one up as a loss, and moved on. I still use manners because frankly they’re about the best out there imo, but if I’m paying 1k and more for a stock, I expect it to be correct.

Y’all are worse than Taylor swift fans.

This is why the Hide is getting ridiculous. “You’re a pussy. Just give away more of your money and time. How dare you come to a gun forum and actually state a fact or engage in a discussion.”

Manners is a good company and a good product. But if it’s a trend in poor qc, I’d think here is the place to discuss or learn about. If it’s a one-off, so be it. You all can calm down. I already said I extracted the screws. I’ll live with it. If I need to reposition the NV bridge to those screw holes I’ll tap them as mentioned.

I personally think it sucks to spend 1600+ on a stock, have issues, reach out to the company then get ghosted. But if you guys think that’s pretty cool, carry on.

Because somebody used to how things work in the big boy's world wouldn't have even bothered to make a post or gotten upset, they would have probably just shipped it back and sent a friendly note to CS and asked them if when it comes back, could they throw in a couple little xxx parts that they needed as well if they happened to have some spares or blemishes laying around.

Here's a story,
I bought a bunch of Athlon cheap optics for cheap guns.
One of them seemed to have an issue.

I got to Athlon's website to start the warranty process and their policy at the time was download this form from our website, fill it out, wrap the item up, ship it to us with the form enclosed & we'll take care of it from there.

So I wrap it up, pay for a bit of cheap shipping with a tracking number and insurance.
Not long after I have a replacement at my doorstep.

Done, no issues, no whining, I'm happy all good.
I'll take the cheaper prices even if it means perhaps one day I pay a few dollars for postage.

That make sense now. ($1500/1 year) is the same a (cheap pos product). Thanks for clearing that up.

You’re opinion is absolutely invalid. You’re talking about dogshit Chinese scopes vs a custom made stock bro.

Touch grass.

The fact is we agree that it sucks that happened to you. We mostly agree they should have given you the pre-paid label. What we have an issue with is the sitting there saying it will never work right and everyone should shout at the sky with me!
Again yes it sucks, but rather that fall on your sword for $40, spend the money ( a pittance this sport) send it back in, get it fixed and move on.

Wanted to give a shout out to @tmanners for his awesome customer support. He contacted me about my order due to not having the specific action in hand (left-handed Christensen) when building my stock. I exchanged photos and when it came, it needed to be opened up a little bit in the bolt handle recess. Notified him and he called me to discuss. Told me how to do it since I had the action in hand and opened up the area to the proper clearance. Shipped it back to him attention to Tom and he is currently refinishing so it looks “as good as new”. Don’t know many companies that the owner is so involved with individual orders. Awesome service.

They’re pretty great. It’s why I own 4, soon to be 5 of their stocks.

Get pirate ship and it would be $18

Underrated comment. Anybody who ships more than a couple times a year should be using this.

Keep in mind that shipping any gun part other than a scope through UPS without a signed FFL firearm part shipping account with them is against UPS's terms of service-- and I'm pretty sure Pirate Ship doesn't have a signed FFL firearm products shipping agreement with UPS when they generate a label for your gun parts shipment. Keep in mind UPS considers a stock a firearm part, stocks are specifically mentioned in their terms of service.

Pirate Ship mentions the UPS restrictions for firearm and firearm parts right on their website: https://support.pirateship.com/en/articles/5613984-ups-prohibited-items

If you send a gun part through UPS and you don't use a UPS account with an FFL shipping agreement and loss or damage happens in transit and UPS finds out what it is, they won't pay you a dime of insurance because you were violating their terms of service.

However, sending gun parts via UPS through Pirate Ship raises some questions-- because while sending gun parts through UPS without an FFL shipping account means you are violating UPS's shipping policies and you won't be reimbursed from UPS's own insurance, Pirate Ship offers third party insurance that doesn't seem to have any restrictions regarding gun parts... but Pirate Ship could also claim you didn't follow the UPS terms of service listed right on the Pirate Ship website and now they're not responsible either. Be interesting to see how a claim for a lost or damaged gun part shipped through UPS via Pirate Ship plays out if you used Pirate Ship's third party insurance-- especially since their third party insurance (InsureShield) is a UPS owned company.

Regarding Pirate Ship's third party insurance, you hear both good and bad stories about it. However same goes for UPS and USPS native insurance.

Safest way for an individual to ship anything gun part related since mid to late 2022 when Fedex and UPS enacted these new policies is via USPS, they don't have any restrictions about letting individuals ship firearm parts. UPS clamped down hard on individuals shipping both serialized firearms and unserialized gun parts with very specific and clear policies. Fedex has restrictions now for individuals shipping serialized firearms and 80% / 3D printed receivers but has very vague verbiage about individuals shipping non-serialized gun parts through them; sounds like it's not allowed, but their language regarding firearm parts is nowhere near as clear-cut as UPS's policies.

Just FYI for people shipping parts. I'm only bringing it up because a friend had a very high dollar custom made presentation grade walnut stock damaged in transit by UPS and didn't get a dime of insurance because it was shipped from a regular UPS account without an FFL firearm parts shipping agreement. As soon as the pictures of the damaged box and stock were submitted UPS denied the claim as the shipment violated their terms of service.

Back somewhat on topic, my last TCS that was ordered in early April 2024 took almost exactly 10 months to arrive. It was missing the 2x knobs for the cheekrest and buttpad adjustment when it showed up, but Jim had them in the mail the next day after I emailed him.

You can ship USPS via pirate ship as well

Yep, but UPS is typically much cheaper than USPS for boxes with any dimension over 30" (like a stock) and I know most people usually gravitate towards the cheaper shipping option. When I shipped a stock to North Carolina a few weeks ago UPS ground would have been 32 while USPS ground was 57, but I used USPS because I don't have an FFL firearm parts shipping account with UPS to comply with their terms of service. Another 25 bucks was worth it so I'd have a chance of a successful insurance claim if it was damaged in transit.
