Was really excited to see something new from NF (a NX8 1.5-12x42 or 2-12x42 ATACR would be nice... cough, cough), leave it to BARF.com to review scopes that have been out for a while now... Someone needs to let the NF reps know that no one in the shooting world pronounces ATACR as A-Tack-R, we all say attacker

Nightforce has a history of sitting on models for quite some time before updating or replacing. If I were a betting man, I'd say we'll see a new ATACR II sometime around... northwest Florida getting a bunch of snow, oh wait, we just got 8" in Navarre!!! (felt like I was back on the farm in Colorado), so I'll update that with "hell freezing over"... The 4-20 was a strange offering that was thrown in a couple years ago, why they'd limit the low mag FOV vs. the 4-16x42??? thus leaving the 4-16x42 as my favorite ATACR to date for gas gun and crossover use.

Pay patent licensing fees to Leupold if need be to be allowed to use the existing NF 4-16 locking elevation turret across the whole NF lineup.
Or make their own locking turret design! Jeez.
I’m not bothered by a capped windage or the current translating elevation turret, but that’s me.

I wish NF had something new, but no biggy. The actual issue is with ARFCOM doing a video for old scopes. I thought there was actually something new when I saw it pop up.
They are taking requests from members on their forum on what booths to visit so I'm sure they were asked to go over to NF and see what's cookin. In this case nothing lol. On the other hand I don't think Vortex does Shot Show?I say A-tacker.

Ditch the rotating ocular on the ATACR and throw a couple new reticles in the mix. I moved on from NF but I'd be interested in a 7-35 or a 4-16x42 with a JTAC style reticle if prices stayed close to current.I hear what you're saying

There does come a point where a lack of innovation leaves one in the dust.

.I'll stick with my Nightforce stuff.
Gen 2 ATACRs without a rotating ocular, and a better field of view would be great. It doesn’t even need to be beyond the Swaro patent. Just better than toilet paper tube.
And Gen2 NX8s with better eye boxes, and also a better FOV on the 1-8 would be sweet. Though, an NX6 would probably help with that.
They have a bad ass sticker though.
An updated ATACR series with a non-rotating ocular and an NX8 with a 6X erector (NX6) would be nice.
I'd personally love a non-rotating ocular. Copy ZC's or Kahles' diopter adjustment.
A 2-12 ATACR would be slick, especially if it had more reticle options than the FC-DMx.
That said, I just deal with the shitty ocular design. Not going to replace all 6 of my NF's with ZCOs any time soon

I've never bought scopes for the glass. I buy them for their ability to function. I have learned through the decades that I break or have malfunctions from shit marines call "indestructible". Nightforce does better than most for me.
I have used every top tier optic available at one time or another (in matches) and i always come back to NF. My main two rifles have 7-35's on them right now and I have no real complaints about them. I do not understand what the big bitch everyone has with the rotating ocular now? Go far enough back in the archives on here and youll see people praising it. Now its hated? Just more echo chamber bullshit. If your only bitch is that you run a rear scope cap and its just too complicated for you.......get over it. Ive never had a single issue with the countless NF scopes ive owned. ZERO. I have however had the following optics shit the bed (most during a match): S&B (multiple), Vortex Razor (Gen 2 &3), TT, and Khales. I will say that I think the TT and ZCO had better glass in them than my current 7-35's, but it sure as fuck wasnt enough to matter to me. When I look thru my scope, Im looking at a target (be it steel or animal) and focusing on the shot process. I could give a fuck less if im able to see if the deer has one grey eye lash mixed in with all the black ones from 600 yards away. Im also not trying to read a fucking eye chart across the field with my rifle scope either. Ive never heard a guy come off the line saying "if I would have had TT glass, I wouldnt have dropped those 4 points".
It just seems like here lately NF is the optic people love to hate on. Up above it was asked "what would you like to see from them". It doesnt make a fuck if NF gave you everything you wanted. There would still be people bitching about something. People then wanting something else.

Any of the top tier optics are going to serve 97% of shooters just fine. Even match shooters. The people on here (most of them) just like to try to pick pepper out of fly shit. When it comes to the top tier optics, if someone is bitching about glass quality, take what they say with a grain of salt. These are rifle scopes......for shooting. If you want to bird watch or read news papers from 500yds away, get a fucking Swaro spotter.
I tend to agree. I've been looking at some options and I think reality is I could pick any of the ones I'm looking at and be very satisfied.
They were working to phase out the NXS series altogether and replace with an NX6 line. I know covid and a few other kinks really slowed that down even further than they already move.
