A really quick Google search would indicate Karl's patent expires in 2026.Maybe the LMT patent has expired and now Mike is free to bring monolithic uppers back to the market. Exciting for sure.
What happened to the old Mega Arms? I heard LMT took some kind of legal action.
I don't think they can as I recall reading somewhere that once this expires, it's game on for the industryHopefully they can't get an extension on it. I always wanted a mega but by the time I could afford one they had already quit making them.
I just picked one up and its a freaking laser. Really well built.I have two Mega uppers and really like the system.
This ^ Icon monolithic upper would have me forget about anything LMT, pending a couple of details. If they would just continue with the MML line it would be great. The Mega machining was second to none.
At least for small frames. I’m still a believer in the MWS system. This ^ Icon monolithic upper would have me forget about anything LMT, pending a couple of details.

Proprietary barrel extension adds cost and/or lead time for precise barrels.I don't get it really
Mega has nothing on the LMT platform, which is proven so why all the hoopla? I need to understand why it's better not why it looks better
A barrel nut and a long ass barrel nut wrenchIm familiar with how LMT and FN SCAR barrels are attached to the upper. How is the barrel secured in a mega receiver set?
gotchaProprietary barrel extension adds cost and/or lead time for precise barrels.
I have a couple of Mega builds and they were just really good for the money. They barrel extension and smaller ID rail, great finish and tight fitment. When sitting side by side with other ARs, it’s easy to spot the differences.I don't get it really

LMT isn't better than a quality MML Setup, people have been cannibalizing the LMT barrels or having custom jobs done like DW is doing now all the way back when Flounder was working at GAP.I don't get it really

The MWS is built like a Tank and in 99% of the LMT MWS I've owned they averaged 1.2"-1.5" MOA on a good day.
Besides the robust Receiver design their only other appeal is the Quick Change Barrel design, and to this day outside of Mil Ops I've never seen anyone actually put that to good use.
I've done countless repeatability test with a plethora of barrels and they are always all over the map. Even with the SS Match Barrels I could be averaging MOA-ish, let the barrel cool remove the barrel and reinstall it with a quality Torque Wrench and POI would shift 1-2 MOA in any direction and my groups would almost always open up.
The bottom line is the intent for the MWS is a true "Battle Rifle" that all the cool kids wanted back in the day that could reliably shoot 1.5-2 MOA.
I sold my last MWS back in 2016 that was a complete Lemon, from out of spec upper receiver and the Chrome on the BCG chipping off in the first Range Trip.
There have been a few online reviews where the MWS couldn't even complete the Eval.
So coming back to reality with the rest of the world outside the Military the Monolithic Mega Large and Small Frame is the better choice far and wide, no need to fiddle with highly proprietary parts.
I've seem more Home MML builds on here with a quality barrel that have operated with 100% reliably and easily a 65% Accuracy increase.
I honestly can't even count the number of MML or Small Frame Mega Builds I've done in the past with using a Custom Cut Barrel with a Oversized Barrel Extension that have resulted in a rigidity increase over the MWS.
The ONLY down side to the MML Builds I personally see over the MWS is the LMT/KAC Ambidextrous controls, they are nice.
This is one of my Mega Small Frame Builds a picked up on here as builder kit that will never leave my Stable.
Sadly after I completed the build and dropped a Custom Craddock or Paul Ross Bartlein Barrel in her (can't remember which off the top of my head) I haven't had a chance to shoot it over all current projects I've got going on.

Hey, nice rifle![]()
You can do different things with the A2 rear sight assembly space using more modern MRDS or Electro-Optics, and still have a mechanical elevation control under it.Dang that A2 mono is calling to me and I'm not sure why but it seems like a freakin cool idea.
Hahaha I bought mine from him and absolutely love it. Most accurate ar15 I've ever had. And I just have a wilson combat ss 20". But it hammers.Yeah some asshole one here sold it to me..lol
Not great, I wouldn't buy one for off hand use. Mine is all bipod or barricade and it's great for that. I haven't tested shift in any great depth, so no comments there.I have not seen a ton of love for the seekins semi mono uppers on here. Anyone using them consistently? How does the larger triangular rail hold when shooting off hand?
Does anyone have a picture of the tool that would be used to tighten the barrel nut on one of these mono receivers?
