600 Yard Rifle

I just have a 556 AR-15,
Not to be one to talk anyone out of a new rifle purchase, but a decent 5.56 AR with a 12.5" barrel or more, with decent ammo and optic can reach 600 very handily. Shooting 5.56 at distance will be a great learning tool for wind, while keeping recoil low. Obviously I wouldn't recommend a 12.5" AR as a "600 meter gun", it's definitely toward the end of useful range, but the important things that come out of learning that way, such as "fundamental" marksmanship principles, understanding ballistic trajectory, learning wind calling and effect, and the optic, all transfer to other rifle platforms.

I didn’t realize people use that for shooting that far. As I said I’m pretty new to this, so how could I make a dope card becuase that’s one of the requirements before I get qualified on the 600 yards

buy some good 77gr SMK or TMK ammo and git’r done. Easy peasy.

You def don’t need a new rifle to accomplish this. If you must, then I’d recommend a .308

Yeah man, lots of folks here can help you out in getting what you have to reach 600.
That said, there is some info needed for us to provide good advice:

Barrel length
Barrel type/twist
Current optic
Precision shooting accessories you have or don't have, such as: bipods, grip, stock, rear/support bag, etc.

Might be worth starting a new thread, such as "Help Me Get to 600 With My AR", as this thread is pretty much only going to attract members that have participated in this thread or want to give advice on a new setup.
