If you are using a VPN disable it, if using a Tor enabled browser (like Brave) use Chrome instead.

Most likely I understood what was the matter.
Kestrel has launched a new site for shooters. https://kestrelballistics.com/
And the direction for other purposes and with other devices was left on the old website https://kestrelinstruments.com/
I've downloaded another Kestrel Link app. When the application is launched, it does not connect to the server and writes that there is no Internet connection. Internet connection is solid 500 mb/s
I connected the app via Bluetooth with my Kestrel and tried to update the firmware from the application, but it failed again.
an error popped up about the lack of an Internet connection.
I turn on the VPN on my laptop and everything works. But I can’t enable vpn on my cell phone, and I can’t update the firmware of the device.
most likely New hosting does not allow IP requests from Russia. Therefore, neither updating the firmware nor simply visiting the site works. you need to write to them to fix this problem.

Your hosting server does not allow IP requests from Kz I called a few of my friends to update firmware of their Kestrel 5700 elite with link. everyone has the same issue. Nobody can't update

Well, I learned you are correct. Try turning off WiFi and see if you can link and update that way. Maybe cell service will bypass the block.
OK, we think we have a solution that we should be able to implement by this weekend. I will keep you posted.
I have the Kestrel/Hornady 5700 4 DOF version 1.49. Today at the range I attempted to update the kestrel latitude using the LINK ballistics software (android phone) and the 5700 4 DOF continues to show zero. I would appreciate any suggestions ? Thanks in advance.
I turned on the GPS and it now updates the latitude. Thanks - much appreciated.
The product was discontinued in 2017. Our costs to maintain the database to update units that have code that is older than 5 years have increased year over year.
We will continue to support this product, and all Kestrel 5700 Sportsman have the ability to convert to the current Kestrel 5700 code at no charge via our free app.

Yes. I have been instructed to watch ITAR and EAR99 restrictions in regards to all devices with AB on board.
is there a list of products that cannot be exported from the US due to ITAR restrictions? I use my Kestrel 5700 ballistic for shooting decisions and for observing the surrounding weather and water temperature.
Kestrel has a statement here: https://kestrelinstruments.com/compliance. It is the data inside the devices that restricts them to only EAR99 countries.
For example, I'm flying from the continental United States to Turkey with my family. In my luggage, I have a Kestrel 5700 Ballistics. I intend to use it only for personal purposes such as monitoring the weather, air temperature, and water temperature. Will I have any legal issues or not? Who can answer? Turkey is not on the list of countries under U.S. embargo.
If you are thinking of upgrading your 5700 AB Kestrel with Link, the process is greatly improved. Now you can purchase the upgrade in the App and download from the app to the Kestrel the new firmware. Easy!

I’m aware you don’t have to do this, and that you can simply pay the $100 for WEZ update via firmware.
…but…if you have a Kestrel 5700X Elite w/ link and AB, and you decided to do the trade in program for a 5700x AB with wez…you get $150 credit towards basically the same unit? That’s how that works?

x has a different processor than the elite so it is a different machine with same software. The WEZ is additional software that will only run on an X processor. The trade in program is a credit toward an upgraded product and the amount is based on the type of trade in. Is that what you are asking?
No im asking if you only get $150 if you trade a 5700x in for a 5700x with wez.. based on the chart that is on the link.

Yes, much better to upgrade an X or sell your X here on the Hide. We do not resell trade-in Kestrels, they are donated to non-profits
